### Specific Responsibilities
As the Director of Government Affairs and Community Partnerships, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our company’s external relationships, advocating for our interests, and fostering meaningful community engagement. You will lead dynamic teams responsible for government affairs and community partnerships, ensuring alignment with our strategic goals and values. Your expertise will guide our reputation management, stakeholder engagement, and philanthropic initiatives across our global portfolio.
### Government Affairs Leadership
**Lobbying and Advocacy:**
– Develop and execute lobbying strategies at both local, state, and federal levels.
– Monitor legislative and regulatory developments, assessing their impact on our business.
– Oversee company trade association memberships by representing the company’s interests and ensuring appropriate subject matter expert engagement.
– Collaborate with legal, compliance, EHS, and other teams to ensure adherence to all applicable laws and regulations.
**International Government Engagements:**
– Manage relationships with foreign governments and diplomatic entities.
– Coordinate with the U.S. State Department and other relevant agencies.
– Navigate complex geopolitical landscapes to advance our global interests and make recommendations to leadership regarding political and other above-ground risks.
**Employee Political Action Committee (PAC):**
– Oversee the company’s PAC, ensuring compliance, transparency, and strategic contributions.
– Engage employees in PAC activities and promote civic participation.
### Community Partnerships Leadership
**Community Engagement Strategy:**
– Develop and implement a holistic community engagement strategy.
– Foster partnerships with local organizations, nonprofits, and community leaders.
– Align community initiatives with our corporate values and business objectives.
**Strategic Philanthropic Giving:**
– Manage our philanthropic budget, ensuring effective allocation.
– Identify high-impact causes and organizations for strategic donations.
– Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align philanthropy with business priorities.
**Employee Engagement and Volunteering:**
– Organize volunteer events and community service projects that build on our strategic partnerships within the communities where we work.
– Measure the impact of employee engagement on both the community and our workforce.
**Specific Programs:**
– **Tree Grant Program:** Oversee our tree planting program and environmental conservation efforts.
– **Springboard Girls Schools:** Support Springboard board and staff with strategic planning and day-to-day management of the girls’ schools in Egypt.
### Qualifications & Experience
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:
– Bachelor’s degree in public policy, public administration, business, or equivalent.
– Minimum of 15 years of managerial experience in government affairs or community relations.
– Deep knowledge of government processes, advocacy, and community engagement.
– Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
– Experience leading a team of professionals, providing mentorship, guidance, and performance feedback.
– Fostering a collaborative and inclusive team culture.
– Managing numerous budgets including planning, input, and active management to ensure programs remain on budget.
– Making strategic recommendations based on business needs and long-term goals.
– Serving as an ambassador for the company, engaging with government officials, community leaders, and industry peers.
– Providing strategic counsel to executive leadership on stakeholder engagement and reputation management.
