Position Summary

This position will work with the Vice President to develop, manage, and execute state-level grassroots campaigns for the assigned list of states. In addition, manage the coordination, development, and execution of APCIA consumer grassroots social properties, including content coordination and reporting. Also responsible for managing the set-up and execution of grassroots alerts and email communications for all states, and performs varied grassroots management, tracking, and reporting.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Working with the Vice President, strategize, develop, and execute grassroots campaigns for priority issues across assigned states, ensuring seamless website and technical set-up by the Political Engagement Coordinator and external vendors. Oversee the provision of regular updates to Political Engagement leadership on grassroots activities for all states.
  • Lead the coordination, development, and execution of consumer grassroots social media campaigns, overseeing the drafting, review, and posting of social media content by external vendors to ensure alignment with association and campaign objectives.
  • Participate in and lead grassroots participation in state legislative update calls for assigned states, coordinating with the Vice President to identify and prioritize issues for grassroots activation.
  • Partner with the Vice President and other Political Engagement staff to identify and recruit member company executive and government relations participation on priority policy issues. This includes presenting options for engagement with APCIA members virtually and in person.
  • Responsible for overseeing the management of the Voice of America’s Insurers website, which contains grassroots tools and APCIA member co-brand websites, with assistance from the Political Engagement Coordinator and external vendors.
  • Oversee the development and execution of APCIA’s “Get Out The Vote” efforts, managing content creation and deployment.
  • Oversee the further analysis, refinement, and utilization of APCIA’s extensive consumer and voter data as part of digital advocacy and predictive modeling efforts.

  • Manage the tracking of grassroots needs and priorities for the assigned list of states.

Qualifications

(a) Educational Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Communications, or a related field.

(b) Experience:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in managing grassroots, political campaigns, or social media.
  • Professional experience with website (WordPress) and social media platforms (X, Facebook, etc.).
  • Position title will be commensurate with experience. Candidates eligible for the AVP position will need to have a higher level of skills and experience.

Preferred Skills

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel) with professional experience with website (WordPress) and social media platforms (X, Facebook, etc.).
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work successfully under pressure on multiple campaigns and to act quickly and independently, using strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Familiarity with government legislative processes, in both the state and federal legislative branches.
  • Data analytics experience, as part of campaigns, preferred.
  • Familiarity with Quorum and Phone2Action.
