Understanding the Modern Disinformation Landscape

AI-generated content, algorithmic amplification and fragmented media ecosystems have accelerated the spread of misleading or false narratives. This session will explore the mechanics behind modern disinformation and provide practical strategies for recognizing and addressing it early.

Our speakers will address:

  • How misinformation, disinformation and AI-generated content spread – and why certain narratives gain traction online
  • Early warning signs that inaccurate or manipulated information is shaping the conversation around an issue
  • Practical approaches to correcting false claims without unintentionally amplifying them

Building Digital Literacy into Advocacy and Communication Strategies

Responding to misinformation is only part of the challenge. Organizations also need to strengthen the ability of staff, advocates and stakeholders to evaluate information critically before sharing it. By building digital literacy into internal training and external engagement strategies, communications teams can reinforce credibility and help audiences navigate a complex information environment.

This session will discuss:

  • How organizations can model responsible communication when addressing complex or contested issues
  • Methods that employees, members and advocates can use to fact-check digital content before sharing it
  • Ways to incorporate digital literacy into training, internal communication and broader advocacy strategy
