The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the national not-for-profit association established in 1863 and representing over 108,000 veterinarians working in private and corporate practice, government, industry, academia, and uniformed services, is seeking a PAC Manager for our Federal Government Relations Division (FGRD) located in Washington, D.C. This team advocates for the Association’s policies and positions on federal legislative and regulatory issues that affect animal and human health and the veterinary profession. The mission of the Association is to lead the profession by advocating for our members and advancing the science and practice of veterinary medicine to improve animal and human health.
Reporting to the FGRD Director, the PAC Manager is responsible for establishing, enhancing, and maintaining activities related to the AVMA PAC. They will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to plan PAC Board meetings, plan and execute fundraising campaigns, and produce PAC communications and reports. They will also ensure compliance with all applicable FEC regulations and state/federal laws, while supporting the federal government relations team in political contribution strategies and managing PAC databases and external vendors. Approximately 25% travel.

A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position is $82,000 – $114,000. Compensation decisions take into account a wide range of factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, skills, certifications, geographic location, business needs, and organizational policies. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer.

Requirements
To be successful in this role, you must be highly collaborative and passionate about AVMA’s mission, advocacy, and increasing member satisfaction and engagement. Additional qualifications include:
- BS/BA degree
- Minimum 2 years’ work experience with federal PACs or PAC fundraising
- Minimum 2 years’ experience administering PAC; knowledge of Democracy Direct and/or Quorum a plus
- Demonstrated fundraising expertise
- Advanced knowledge of database management programs
- Understanding of Federal Election Laws, Regulations, and congressional ethics rules; ability to read, understand, and comply with legislative and regulatory publications of the U.S. government
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with the federal legislative, political, and election process
- Strong involvement with national, non-profit organizations is highly desirable
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational, planning, and management skills for group meetings
- Able to handle multiple priorities
- Commitment to achieving deadlines
- Able to function autonomously and as a team member
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Internet browsers (Internet Explorer, Chrome, etc.); Database Management Software
