Salary Range:

$75,600.00 to $90,720.00 annually

The position is responsible for managing a multi-faceted regional state legislative and regulatory program that includes state regulatory monitoring and reporting, coalition and alliance support, member communications, and outreach to strengthen the American Chemistry Council’s (ACC) state regulatory efforts and legislative outcomes. The position reports directly to the Senior Director, State Affairs – Northeast Region.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains an information network to ensure timely awareness of emerging issues impacting the industry among stakeholders.
  • Monitors bills introduced in state legislatures to determine impact and recommend appropriate position(s) for ACC in coordination.
  • Synthesizes and communicates priority regulatory activity for the Senior Director (Northeast Region) and appropriate headquarters staff.
  • Monitors and reports state regulatory activity. Supports coordination of response.
  • Supports responses to pending legislation/regulations in conjunction with business allies, contract lobbyists, and/or constituent groups.
  • Supports the development of action plans and strategies to present the chemical industry’s position(s), drafting testimony (as appropriate), prepping witnesses, and monitoring outcomes.
  • Maintains detailed records of all legislative and regulatory developments in the region.
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with appropriate internal staff resources as well as external contacts, including ACC members, consultants, vendors, coalition/trade association partners, and government agencies.
  • Supports strong communication with members on priority issues in the region.
  • Coordinates consistent bill tagging, tracking, and reporting in cooperation with appropriate headquarters staff.
  • Serves as regional coordinator of shared resources, organizing and uploading documents and files as appropriate to shared drives and member resource pages.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in government affairs, political science, or related field.
  • Three years of experience in policy/regulatory analysis, trade association support, member services, or other relevant experience.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of political, legislative, and regulatory processes on the state level.
  • Experience in tracking platforms preferred (Policy Note, Lexis Nexis, Quorum, etc.).
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple issues, projects, tasks, and information/requests.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to travel, as needed, within the United States.
