Position Overview

We are seeking a proactive and collaborative Senior Organizer to join the Common Cause team in Georgia. This role is critical in growing and diversifying our base of supporters, building partnerships, and driving civic engagement across Georgia. The Senior Organizer will also play a key role in coordinating grassroots actions, supporting policy advocacy efforts, and coordinating volunteers.

This is a full-time role reporting to the Executive Director, Georgia, and is based in Georgia, with an expectation to travel around the state up to three days per week. We hope our new Senior Organizer will start in September.

Responsibilities

  • Lead our digital organizing efforts and support community organizing work
  • Draft plans for and implement engaging, nonpartisan education and outreach activities to expand awareness of our work
  • Oversee data entry and volunteer database maintenance for programmatic work
  • Coordinate communications on social media, websites, and email to ensure messaging aligns with our brand and values
  • Draft compelling communications for Georgia-level campaigns in collaboration with teammates
  • Engage members through digital communications (email, social media, etc.)
  • Assist in media relations efforts, including contributing to press materials and supporting media outreach strategies
  • Grow, diversify, and engage supporters
  • Present on behalf of Common Cause at coalition meetings and other events
  • Support the planning and facilitation of coalition meetings and events
  • Proactively build and maintain relationships with community partners and members
  • Collaborate with coalition partners to coordinate grassroots actions and advance campaigns
  • Collaborate with other Georgia staff to coordinate and manage projects and tasks within the election protection program
  • Recruit, train, coordinate and mentor interns and volunteers in monthly meetings to support our work
  • Support our research, policy and advocacy work
  • Support research and advocacy efforts on democracy issues, such as voting rights, state election board work, or civil rights
  • Track bills relevant to our issue areas during legislative session
  • Draft and coordinate resources to support public comment and testimony on key legislation
  • Support fundraising and advisory board management
  • Support the Executive Director and other staff in fundraising efforts, including donor cultivation, grant support, and reporting for foundations and major donors
  • Assist with administrative tasks for the Georgia advisory board, including meeting coordination, logistics, and preparation of materials

  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Familiarity with office productivity tools including Microsoft Office, Slack, Airtable, Mobilize, Action Network, constituent relationship management software (e.g., VAN or Action Builder), and Zoom

The Following Is Required:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and strong interest in current statewide democracy issues, including voting rights, redistricting, campaign finance reform, disinformation, ethics, etc., with a demonstrated interest in the unique aspects of Georgia’s political dynamic
  • Demonstrated interest in public interest advocacy campaigns and mobilization efforts
  • Willing to have a social media presence on behalf of Common Cause, including being tagged on posts and creating content on behalf of the organization (as needed, Common Cause may provide accounts for staff members to use)
  • Ability to travel 2-3 times per year for team and/or all staff retreats
  • Ability to work in-person in the Georgia office OR at various locations around Georgia up to 3 days per week, especially during early voting and on election day
  • Per our nonpartisan policy, Common Cause staff members may not currently be in elected office (or running for office); on the Steering Committee or Finance Committee for any political candidate; or affiliated with the leadership of a political party

Compensation

$72,100 – $89,610 a year

In order to ensure greater equity and transparency as an organization, Common Cause sets salary ranges consistently based on job responsibilities, and we determine salary for each staff member based on relevant years of experience. For these reasons, we do not negotiate on our salary ranges or our specific salary offers.
