Position Summary

The NAM is committed to providing news and analysis to manufacturers and a wide variety of other audiences, including policymakers and the general public. The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) is seeking a Digital Content Editor with superb writing skills and the ability to find stories that will hold readers’ attention.

The Digital Content Editor is a motivated self-starter who understands how online readers consume news and can operate under tight deadlines. He or she is someone who can work independently as well as in close communication with many colleagues at a large organization. This position requires a mixture of diplomacy, writing talent, and initiative: the Digital Content Editor must be able to identify an opportunity for a story, find and contact the right sources, and write it up in a compelling, concise article.

The Digital Content Editor will be writing materials for the NAM’s many audiences across the NAM’s web and email properties. This position reports to the Editorial Content Director.

We value in-person collaboration and the sense of community it brings. Therefore, if hired, you will be expected to be in the office at least 4 times per week. Our office is conveniently located in Washington, DC, just steps away from Gallery Place and Metro Center.

  • Create compelling, readable articles for the NAM’s newsletters and websites, ensuring these support the NAM’s many policy priorities and organizational interests.
  • Scour the internet on an ongoing basis, keeping track of major news stories and finding opportunities for NAM commentary or tie-ins.
  • Edit and post content in the content management system.
  • Conduct interviews with manufacturers.

We Are Looking for Ambitious Candidates Who Meet the Following Criteria

  • B.A. degree in English, political science, journalism, communications, or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of writing and editing experience; previous experience at a newspaper, journal, think tank, or other policy establishment preferred.
  • Must have experience working within content management systems and some familiarity with social platforms.
  • Some knowledge of basic HTML, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, and Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.

Salary Range

$75,000 – $82,600 annually. This salary range represents a good-faith estimate of the lowest to the highest salary for this position. The final salary offered will be based on qualifications and experience.
