Our base salary range is $93,300 – $139,500, and in addition we have generous bonus plans to provide a competitive compensation package.

You’re internet‑native and plugged into how conversations happen online. You understand how ideas spread across social media, media coverage, and communities. You’re a hands‑on communicator who can identify opportunities to tell a story and then help bring that story to life.

You enjoy working with researchers, technical teams, and creative collaborators. You ask thoughtful questions, listen closely to how experts describe their work, and turn those insights into clear and compelling communication. You’re organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple projects at once while keeping an eye on the bigger picture.

The Ai2 communications team is a small, creative, mission‑driven group working to amplify the voice of Ai2 in the wider world. We stay deeply informed—about our research, the AI industry, and the cultural moment—so we can shape messages that spark curiosity, create connection, and drive impact.

Our goal is to ensure Ai2 is part of the broader AI conversation. That means shining a light on the research happening across the institute, communicating it in ways that are engaging and accessible, and creating opportunities for people to connect with our work. We don’t just pass along information after the fact. Communications at Ai2 plays an active role in shaping how research is shared with the world.

This is a collaborative team that works closely with researchers, product teams, and leadership across the institute to ensure our work reflects the depth, rigor, and impact of Ai2’s research.

# Your Next Challenge

**Essential functions include, but are not limited to:**

– Plan and coordinate communications strategies for research launches, announcements, and major initiatives across Ai2.
– Translate research and technical work into compelling stories for broader audiences across social media, blog posts, and other digital channels.
– Draft social media content, including threads and posts that help bring Ai2 research into the broader AI conversation.
– Write and edit blog posts and other written communications that highlight Ai2 research and perspectives.
– Work closely with researchers, program managers, and project teams to understand upcoming work and identify opportunities for effective communication.
– Support media and PR efforts.
– Plan and execute communications and marketing campaigns that amplify key research and projects.
– Coordinate timelines and logistics for communications projects to ensure launches and campaigns run smoothly.
– Organize and manage digital and in‑person engagement opportunities such as AMAs, community discussions, and industry events.
– Coordinate special communications projects such as video shoots, podcast recording, etc.
– Support community‑building efforts that strengthen connections between Ai2 and the communities we serve.
– Run and monitor digital engagement initiatives, including advertising campaigns, audience outreach efforts, and Google AdWords campaigns.
– Monitor trends across the AI industry, digital communications, and the philanthropic landscape to identify opportunities for Ai2 to contribute to ongoing conversations.
– Collaborate with the design and communications team on creative storytelling initiatives and campaigns.

# What You’ll Need

## Minimum Qualifications

– Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience in communications, marketing, journalism, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
– Excellent writing and storytelling skills, with demonstrated ability to communicate complex or technical ideas clearly and engagingly.
– Experience creating multimedia content for digital platforms.
– Strong organizational and project coordination skills with a proven track record of managing multiple initiatives simultaneously.
– Curiosity about artificial intelligence and the ability to quickly learn and understand technical topics.
– Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with researchers, technical teams, and cross‑functional partners.
– Proven ability to manage communications priorities in a fast‑moving environment where timelines and opportunities evolve quickly.

## Preferred Qualifications

– Experience supporting media relations or press outreach.
– Experience with digital engagement tools, campaign coordination, or online community building.
– Experience in technology, AI, or science communications.
