## Job Summary
The NMA is currently conducting a search for a full‑time **Regulatory Affairs Specialist** in the association’s headquarters office in Washington, D.C. The Regulatory Affairs Specialist assists the legal and regulatory affairs team in achieving the policy goals of the association and supports the General Counsel of Legal and Regulatory Affairs, as well as the rest of the department on all relevant tasks. The ideal candidate possesses previous experience in a highly visible administrative capacity with high‑level executives or government officials.
## Responsibilities
Reporting to the General Counsel of Legal and Regulatory Affairs, the Regulatory Affairs Specialist assists the legal and regulatory affairs team on all tasks relevant to achieving the association’s legal and regulatory goals.
– **Department memos** — Review, proofread, and send department memos to members via an electronic database.
– **Meeting coordination** — Coordinate in‑office meetings, lunches, calendars, and logistics.
– **Committee meetings** — Coordinate agenda, materials, and all relevant information for yearly, in‑person Environment and Lands Committee meetings and the annual Uranium Recovery Workshop (out‑of‑town travel required).
– **Member meetings** — Coordinate agenda, materials, and all relevant information related to regularly scheduled member meetings.
– **Task force support** — Send invitations, track RSVPs, manage agendas, link relevant materials, and assemble packets for monthly task force meetings.
– **Safety awards** — Assist in planning and execution of the yearly Sentinels of the Safety awards event.
– **Health and Safety Committee** — Assist and engage with the NMA Health and Safety Committee and NMA CORESafety Advisory group to achieve health and safety goals and objectives.
– **CORESafety video** — Assist with CORESafety video activities.
– **Regulatory research** — Conduct research on relevant legal and regulatory issues related to the association’s goals and current priorities.
– **Association‑wide events** — Assist in projects requiring all‑hands‑on‑deck (e.g., board meetings, association‑wide events, receptions, MINExpo®, and filling in when other people are out of town).
## Required Education, Skills and Experience
– **Education background** — Bachelor’s in Political Science, Public Policy, American Government, etc., or interest in pursuing a career in policy, regulation, or law. Strong preference for 1–3 years of related work experience on Capitol Hill, with the federal government, or at a trade association.
– **Professional judgment** — Proven professional judgment.
– **Fast‑paced environment** — Experience working in a fast‑paced environment with demonstrated ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects and ever‑changing priorities.
– **Organization skills** — Highly organized and detail‑oriented.
– **Initiative** — Self‑starter who takes initiative, anticipates needs, and resolves issues quickly.
– **People skills** — Possess excellent people skills and a positive can‑do attitude.
– **Flexibility** — Flexible to the changing needs and responsibilities of the workplace.
– **Communication** — Excellent oral and written communication skills.
– **Note taking** — Skilled in note taking and report writing.
– **Record keeping** — Excellent in record keeping.
## Physical Demands
– The position requires the ability to remain in a stationary position (standing and/or seated) more than half the time.
– Must be able to kneel, crawl, or crouch down to fulfill essential functions less than half the time.
– Must be able to maneuver (lift, move, carry, slide, etc.) less than 15 lbs.
– Requires spending most of the time viewing computer monitors.

## Benefits
