    • A basic understanding of public affairs, including government relations, lobbying, political and advocacy activities
    • Strategies for and insights into the skills well-suited for success when working both in-house and at a public affairs consultancy
    • What public affairs practitioners look for when hiring and partnering with consultants, including how they measure success

Introduction to Public Affairs

In this opening session, we’ll provide an overview of corporate public affairs, its importance and its evolving role in business.

You’ll gain a better understanding of:

  • The role of a public affairs function and its growing importance
  • How to measure the value of public affairs
  • The major challenges facing the business community today, such as expectations for engagement in social issues, public affairs in times of polarization and more

Core Competencies for High Achieving Teams

During this session, we’ll explore the core competencies required of teams to excel in the public affairs arena, including sharpening the skills and traits needed to perform on a high-achieving public affairs team, how the professional profile of these roles has changed, and what to expect going forward as the function continues to evolve.
