In this program, you will learn:

  • How best-in-class organizations integrate district-level engagement into their larger advocacy strategy
  • The logistics, planning and scheduling that goes into an in-district event, including how to train local leaders to execute successful visits
  • Ways to include the PAC, lobbyists, local business leaders and other stakeholders in your plans while clearly defining their role

Planning & Preparing for Strategic In-District Engagement

Now is the time to start preparing for August recess! But before you invite a legislator to a site visit or request a meeting, a strategic plan is essential. We will cover the logistics of scheduling, preparing advocates and equipping them with tools to make the most of in-district engagement opportunities.

Speakers will address:

  • How to schedule and secure meetings and site visits with legislators
  • Best practices for preparing advocates, from messaging to meeting roles, to ensure a compelling and productive conversation
  • Strategies for coordinating with internal teams, lobbyists and coalition partners to strengthen outcomes

Executing & Maximizing Impact from In-District Advocacy

Once the meeting or site visit is scheduled, what happens next? This session will focus on the execution of in-district engagements, including site visits, town halls, and congressional office hours, and ensuring follow-up actions that drive long-term advocacy success.

You will learn how to:

  • Structure engaging and informative site visits and district meetings that leave a lasting impression on legislators
  • Incorporate advocate participation in town halls, office hours and other district-based events to amplify your advocacy message
  • Turn one-time interactions into long-term advocacy partnerships through strategic follow-up
