Proof Strategies, a public relations (PR) and public affairs agency, is seeking a U.S.-based Account Manager, preferably with experience with energy issues, to join our small but dynamic team. This employee will support Proof’s strategic public affairs and communications on behalf of clients in the environmental and clean energy sectors.
In this role, you will lead and manage mid-sized accounts, design and execute public affairs strategies, track and coordinate stakeholder engagements, provide strategic guidance, and develop messaging to communicate clients’ causes to various stakeholders including the public, media, and Congress. Our clients work across a variety of energy issues, including sustainable transportation and spent nuclear fuel storage.
This position is almost entirely remote, with a few working days per month in D.C. Candidates must be located in the Boston, Massachusetts or Washington, D.C. metropolitan areas. If the successful candidate is based in Boston, this position would require infrequent travel to D.C., no more than six times per year.

Key responsibilities:
- Lead account teams on mid-sized accounts along or in collaboration with a senior colleague (e.g., work allocation and delegation, determining roles and responsibilities, etc.) and deliver high-quality service
- Develop and lead the execution of campaign plans to communicate environmental and clean energy topics to the public, think tanks, media, Congress, and other stakeholders.
- Analyze environmental and energy policy developments and determine client newsjacking opportunities.
- Identify and monitor environmental forums, conferences, panels, and other events; provide recommendations on client sponsorship and attendance.
- Provide counsel to clients on sustainability and clean energy topics, in partnership with senior leadership.
- Build and foster relationships with key partners including clients, influencers, media, and other stakeholders.
- Manage work allocation and delegation, ensure compliance with budgets, and provide support and constructive feedback to junior staff.
- Identify new and organic growth opportunities for our clients and potential clients in the sustainability and clean energy sector as part of the practice’s broader new business strategy.
Desired experience:
- A minimum of 5 total years of experience, or a combination of 5 years of post-secondary education and professional experience, is strongly preferred.
- Experience in energy and environmental topics, with preference to those with experience with renewable or nuclear energy, is strongly preferred.
- Experience in public affairs, strategic communications, legislative affairs, political campaigning, issue advocacy, or stakeholder engagement, is strongly preferred.
- Experience working in a legislative or administrative office is considered an asset.
- Experience working with earned, owned, and paid media campaigns is considered an asset.
- Completion of secondary education in public policy, environmental sciences, public relations, communications, marketing, journalism, or a related field is considered an asset.
- Completion of post-secondary education in public policy, communications, environmental sciences, or a related field is considered an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills are required.
