## The Future Society – European AI Governance Roles

The Future Society (TFS) is seeking team members for our European AI Governance team, across three seniority levels: Analyst, Associate, and Senior Associate. These hires will play a critical part in scaling up our well‑established European AI governance activities, including advisory and advocacy work, international coordination efforts, and policy research.

TFS is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization operating in the United States and Europe with the mission to align AI through better governance. We develop, advocate for, and facilitate the implementation of governance mechanisms designed to ensure AI systems are safe and uphold fundamental values. We collaborate with intergovernmental organizations, governments, companies, academic institutions, think tanks, and other civil society organizations.

## Responsibilities

Responsibilities scale with seniority.

**Analysts** support policy research, advocacy materials, and stakeholder outreach.
**Associates** drive TFS’ policy engagement across Europe and allied jurisdictions, building relationships with policymakers and civil society, and representing TFS at international AI policy forums.
**Senior Associates** operate with greater autonomy, managing critical stakeholder relationships independently, generating ideas for high‑impact projects, contributing to team strategy, and producing publication‑ready written work; they are likely to manage staff at the Associate or Analyst level.

## Candidate Profiles

We are looking to build a mix of profiles, including legal, diplomacy, foreign affairs, institutional design, verification technology, AI evaluations, national security, trade policy, risk management, strategic government affairs, and emergency preparedness backgrounds, alongside generalist policy profiles.

We anticipate candidates typically have:

– **Analyst:** 0–2 years’ overall experience
– **Associate:** 2–5 years
– **Senior Associate:** 5+ years (with roughly half of that in AI governance specifically)

However, we encourage applications even without the exact experience described.

## Compensation

Compensation is formula‑based and non‑negotiable:

– **Analyst:** $58,400 USD / €53,900
– **Associate:** $75,300 USD / €69,500
– **Senior Associate:** $99,200 USD / €91,500

(Figures for candidates based in Europe; other regions vary.)

## Location Requirements

Candidates should be based in Europe, though other locations may be considered in exceptional circumstances. Being located in or willing to relocate to Brussels is a plus.

Applicants must have the legal right to live and work in the country where they are based. TFS is currently unable to sponsor visas.

## Application Process

Applicants should complete the job application form for their level of interest (Analyst, Associate, or Senior Associate), available here. The form allows candidates to signal openness to being considered at a different level.

Applications close **19 September 2026**.
