## The Opportunity
The AVP, Strategy & Policy, reporting directly to the VP, Head of Strategy, Policy and Operations, will conduct research, monitor geopolitical, legislative, and regulatory developments, and prepare policy and executive briefs as well as advocacy materials. This role will proactively advise internal stakeholders and help ensure a unified approach to policy matters. It is designed for individuals with strong analytical, research, writing, and organizational skills developed through prior policy or legislative experience, and who possess a deep interest in public policy—preferably with experience in the financial services sector.

## Key Responsibilities
– **Legislative & Regulatory Analysis** — Track and analyze federal, state, and international legislative, regulatory, and policy developments impacting insurance and asset‑management operations.
– **Geopolitical Monitoring** — Track and analyze geopolitical developments relevant to MetLife’s markets; develop insights for internal partners and support scenario planning.
– **Materials Development** — Prepare and produce materials for meetings and events with business lines, internal functions, and external groups, including impactful and complex materials requiring confidential treatment.
– **Executive Briefing** — Prepare complex briefing materials for executive participation in key meetings.
– **Advocacy Support** — Work with advocacy staff on research and writing policy briefs, position papers, and responses to public consultations.
– **Project Data Management** — Develop and manage project‑related data associated with advocacy activities.
– **AI & Digital Tools** — Utilize AI and other digital tools to maximize efficiencies and deliver high‑quality content across multiple deadlines.
– **Social Media Monitoring** — Monitor and produce timely updates on social‑media activity related to legislative and regulatory developments and stakeholder commentary on policy and societal issues impacting MetLife.
– **Stakeholder Engagement** — Support stakeholder engagement activities, including representing MetLife when required.
– **Communication** — Provide clear verbal and written communications.
– **Coordination & Administration** — Coordinate meetings, prepare presentations, and manage policy‑related databases.

## Required Qualifications
– **10+ years** of experience in policy analysis, government relations, or related internships/fellowships
– **Bachelor’s degree** in Public Policy, Political Science, Economics, Business, or related field
– **Experience** on Capitol Hill, the Executive Branch, or in a government‑affairs or related role
– **Self‑starter mindset** with strong ownership
– **Familiarity** with legislative processes, public‑policy development, and regulatory environments
– **Ability to work independently**, anticipate needs, plan for contingencies, and manage concurrent tasks
– **Commitment to quality** while operating within MetLife’s values and ethical standards
– **Excellent organizational and time‑management skills**
– **Proficiency with technology** and emerging innovations, especially AI tools in public policy
– **Strong design skills** for impactful presentations
– **Excellent information‑evaluation skills**—searching, organizing, analyzing, and presenting complex topics
– **Outstanding interpersonal skills**, including ease interacting professionally at senior levels
– **Flexibility** to shift between competing priorities
– **Ability to work autonomously** and prioritize deadlines effectively
