Duties and Responsibilities


We are looking for a dynamic team player who is a self-starter, and able to juggle multiple projects in support of the communications and marketing team. In this diverse role, you will be responsible for supporting media and marketing efforts and help shape the positive industry story we have to tell with reporters, stakeholders and our own members.


Essential Job Functions include:

  • Produce written and visual/multimedia content for email listserv, website, and social media networks to raise the visibility of our organization

○ Write and design regular content for website and email list

○ Use Photoshop and InDesign to edit photographs.

○ Develop and post regular content for Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms

  • Plan and manage projects that use visuals, video, and/or multimedia storytelling to support AHLA’s work. Potential projects could include supervising design consultant work, and designing flyers
  • Manage website, including overseeing the production of new content and shepherding its ongoing development to include analytics reports
  • Developing and maintaining press and member databases
  • Managing and building master lists and event calendars
  • Coordinating with design associates and vendors
  • Coordinating member and stakeholder events and supporting the team with the development of new marketing collateral.
  • Work with the communications team to generate and release media advisories, press releases, and statements
  • Assist in developing talking points for pertinent current events and programming for use by staff and allies
  • Keep track of current issues and strategies in the hospitality industry to leverage opportunities for AHLA communications
  • Support the implementation of new communications initiatives


Job Requirements and Experience


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communicatons, or Marketing
  • 1-2 years of experience in a communications role at an agency, on the Hill, or media outlet + PR experience
  • Knowledge of Cision, Real Magnet and Drupal a plus
  • Excellent project management skills required
  • Demonstrated ability to write and edit clear, engaging, and grammatically correct content
  • Demonstrated oral communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to convey information in a clear, concise way, synthesizing information and presenting it to others
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work assignments
  • Self-motivated and team oriented, with a positive and go-getter attitude
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds
