### JOB DESCRIPTION
Apply your communications and outreach expertise to help raise awareness at the local and state levels about the importance of water and its role as a lifeline sector as a Communications Specialist at GDIT. Here, you’ll help solve some of our clients’ biggest challenges and help us grow the business. As a Communications Specialist at GDIT, you will be responsible for developing and revising marketing communications materials and providing related support services, including staging trade show and event exhibits, speakers’ support, briefing support, brochures, white papers and reports, newsletters, website content, video/multimedia, webinar and meeting support, and other promotional activities. You will also be responsible for supporting proposal development activities, as required, and maintaining knowledge of company services, products, partners, and organization.
### EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
BA/BS or equivalent, 5+ years of experience
### HOW A COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
In this role, you’ll play a key part of supporting mission-critical work of our customer and will:
– Develop and execute communications strategies to ensure stakeholders are informed and engaged
– Create compelling content including newsletters, infographics, brochures, slide decks, and webinars to effectively communicate critical information
– Identify how emerging technology (e.g., AI) can be leveraged to conduct effective outreach to water sector customers
– Ensure consistent, high-quality communications across various channels
– Craft clear and concise messaging through both written and visual content
– Collaborate with subject matter experts to translate technical information so that it is easily understood
– Develop best practices for communication and outreach and content creation, including style guides, templates, and branding
– Increase awareness of initiatives and collect and report metrics of results
– Work collaboratively in a team environment to ensure our customer achieves its mission
– Travel to national, local, and state conferences to staff a booth and speak with water sector stakeholders; some conferences may require public speaking/presenting
### WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED
**Education**: Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science in Communications or a related field
**Required Experience**: 5+ years of related experience
**Required Skills and Abilities**:
– Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the capacity to connect with diverse audiences
– Excellent interpersonal skills and experience and ease in public speaking and the ability to lead presentations
– Ability to creatively communicate complex topics in an understandable manner
– Current with emerging trends to determine the most effective approach to convey messages and engage targeted audiences
– Proficiency in digital marketing tools, social media platforms, and content management systems
– Fast learner and results-oriented
– Strong note-taking skills with the ability to quickly turn around high-level summary reports
– Careful attention to detail, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
– Ability to prioritize workload appropriately employing effective time management skills to meet deadlines
– Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint and Excel, and Google Suite
– Security Clearance Level: Not Applicable
**Preferred Skills**:
– Working knowledge of Smartsheet preferred (or other project tracking software)
– Fast learner and results-oriented
– Ability to handle high-pressure situations and rapidly changing specs
– Comfort with the unknown and ability to “go with the flow”
