Position Summary
As the Government & Community Relations Coordinator, you will manage government relations by coordinating WPH interactions with elected officials, community, business, non-profit leaders and government agencies.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following:
Community/Gov’t Relationships:
Build relationships with community elected officials and their representatives, business and non-profit leaders and have general understanding of the key issues each are focused on (i.e., healthcare, education, etc.). Be able to recognize elected officials at events where WPH is participating.

Coordinate hospital interactions and engagement with the groups mentioned above.

Maintain an updated list of elected officials and committees.

Maintain awareness with city, county and New York state politics, local council agendas, and election calendar; act as point of contact for Hospital and respond in timely manner.

Policy/Regulatory Management:
Awareness of NYS healthcare regulations and how they potentially impact our organization; develop briefing materials for leadership meetings.

Advocacy Support:
Participate on healthcare advocacy group activities, webinars & bi-weekly calls – which may include Advocacy Day in Albany.

Event Participation & Community Outreach:
Represent the Hospital at community and business-related engagements – will include nights/weekends often in coordination with Community Outreach team.

Responsible for inviting and engaging with elected officials to participate in/attend community events (i.e., health fair, youth summit, and other hospital events).

Perform other projects and duties as assigned.

Education & Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Government relations or related field.

2-3 years’ experience in marketing, public relations or government relations.

Proficient in Microsoft Office and/or Microsoft 365.

Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

Strong problem solver and solution-driven attitude.

Attention to detail and strong project management skills is a must.

Salary Range
$85,000 – $130,000 (based on full time)

The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future. When determining a team member’s base salary and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget and internal equity).
