Affiliated with religious, community, and labor organizations statewide, Progressive Maryland focuses on creating positive change.


Community Organizer: The Community Organizer’s role is to sustain and expand Progressive Maryland’s organizing efforts in their region. Responsibilities include developing local chapters, engaging community members in campaigns, and building a base of volunteers and leaders. The Organizer collaborates with organizers statewide to execute grassroots power-building plans, contributing to Progressive Maryland’s programmatic and electoral goals.


Responsibilities:

  1. Build a base in Baltimore City: Recruit members, volunteers, and leaders, growing the local Progressive Maryland chapter.
  2. Leadership Development: Recruit, train, and develop leaders for local chapters and statewide campaigns.
  3. Chapter Growth: Work with members to expand and strengthen local Progressive Maryland chapters.
  4. Canvassing and Phone Banking: Recruit, manage, and train members for canvassing and phone banking activities.
  5. Mobilization: Mobilize the base for events, legislative sessions, petitions, etc.
  6. Community Outreach: Use phones, social media, and outreach to identify and recruit prospective members.
  7. Membership Recruitment: Invite individuals to become dues-paying members of Progressive Maryland.
  8. Goal Achievement: Meet weekly base-building and outreach goals, reporting accurately and timely.
  9. Grassroots Plans: Develop and implement grassroots base-building plans with Director of Organizing’s support.
  10. Representation: Represent Progressive Maryland at community events and meetings in the region.

  • Experience with Votebuilder/VAN and Campaign Platforms

Travel: All positions require reliable access to a vehicle and a valid driver’s license. Travel throughout the region and Maryland is necessary.


Salary, Benefits, and Position Details: Salary ranges from $50,000-$65,000, commensurate with experience. Benefits include 100% employer-paid health, vision, and dental insurance, a 403(b) retirement plan with an employer match, 2 weeks paid vacation, 6 personal days, 15 sick days, and holidays. This position is part of the union (UFCW Local 1994).
