## Program Description
The Communications and Development Department is made up of experienced professionals with expertise in fundraising, communications, and public relations. The team works collaboratively across the organization to advance Public Health Solutions’ mission, drive organizational growth, and increase the visibility, influence, and impact of our work.

## Position Summary
We seek an experienced and mission‑driven Deputy Director to support the day‑to‑day operations of the Communications and Development Department. Reporting to the Senior Director of Communications, this role is responsible for advancing the organization’s external presence and fundraising efforts.

This is an exciting opportunity for a collaborative leader who is passionate about public health and ready to drive meaningful change through strategic communications and development.

## Specifically, the Deputy Director Will

### Strategic Communications
– Lead the design and execution of internal and external communications strategies that advance PHS’ mission and organizational goals.
– Lead hands‑on development and scheduling of social media content across platforms, including writing posts, sourcing visuals, and maintaining an editorial calendar aligned with organizational priorities and audience engagement goals.
– Craft compelling narratives that clearly articulate PHS’ programs and impact for donors, funders, policymakers, and the public.
– Ensure consistency, quality, and brand alignment across all communications touchpoints, including digital, print, and media.
– Support media relations efforts, including press outreach, spokesperson preparation, and monitoring coverage.
– Collaborate with internal stakeholders to translate programmatic milestones, events, and announcements into timely digital content for web and social channels.

### Fundraising and Development
– Coordinate the execution of individual giving campaigns such as year‑end appeals.
– Supervise the development of funder‑facing materials, impact reports, and stewardship communications.
– Perform other duties as assigned.

## Qualifications and Experience
– Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in communications, journalism, business administration, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
– Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in strategic communications and fundraising or development.
– Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to translate complex public health issues into clear, compelling content for donors, funders, and the public.
– Experience managing end‑to‑end production of publications and resources, such as annual reports and issue briefs.
– Demonstrated experience in fundraising, including individual giving campaigns.
– Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
– At least 2 years of supervisory experience managing staff and consultants.
– Experience managing or contributing to departmental budgets and fiscal planning.
– Commitment to health equity, public health, and advancing social impact.
