VACANCY
SEC Newgate EU, a Brussels-based advocacy and communications consultancy with a global presence as part of the SEC Newgate Group, is seeking a Director to lead its policy team and provide support to public and private sector clients across various industries. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional with expertise in European policy, eager to step into a leadership role and thrive in a dynamic, multicultural, and multinational setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic advice to clients on EU policies, regulatory developments, communication strategies, and advocacy opportunities.
  • Lead, mentor, and support a diverse team of public affairs professionals, fostering growth and collaboration.
  • Drive business development by strengthening relationships with existing clients and securing new business opportunities.
  • Actively expand SEC Newgate EU’s presence and network within policy-making circles.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in European Affairs, with prior consultancy experience considered a plus.
  • Proven expertise in people management, with a track record of leading and developing teams of consultants.
  • In-depth understanding of EU institutions and decision-making processes, with expertise in at least one EU policy area such as sustainability, energy, tech, or transport (among others).
  • Extensive experience in public affairs, with a demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective advocacy strategies that enhance issue visibility among policymakers.
  • Established network of contacts in Brussels and exceptional communication skills, with the ability to build meaningful relationships across sectors.
  • Strong client management skills and the ability to drive business development.
  • Excellent English, with proficiency in at least one other EU language.
  • A collaborative team player, eager to mentor and support junior colleagues.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with an interest and/or experience in PR/communications complementing a policy-driven role.
