Role Overview

The Executive Director, Head of Global Policies and Training, is a strategic leader responsible for driving the global vision, strategy, and operational excellence of Gilead’s ethics and healthcare compliance policies and training program. This role has leadership responsibility for a critical function, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives, regulatory requirements and best-in-class standards.
The role reports to the Vice President, Global Compliance Operations. As a Global role, the successful candidate will partner with senior leaders across the organization, influence our compliance culture, and deliver measurable impact on organizational risk and employee engagement.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership: Drive the strategic direction and long-term vision for global ethics and compliance policies and training, ensuring alignment with company and functional strategy.
Executive Consultation: Advise and consult with the Vice President, Global Compliance Operations, and Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer, as well as other senior executive leadership on strategic issues with company-wide impact.
Decision Making: Serve as the principal decision-maker for global policies and training, with authority to approve, implement, and retire policies and programs.
Policy Development: Develop, review, and update global policies to ensure they are current, comprehensive, and aligned with relevant requirements and Gilead’s values.
Framework Integration: Oversee integration of policies and training strategy into enterprise-wide compliance frameworks and Learning & Development strategy.
Innovation & AI: Leverage AI to deliver innovative trainings, assess the effectiveness of policies and training, and assist in creation of effective policies.
Program Design: Design and drive implementation of comprehensive training programs, including interactive e-learning modules, workshops, and seminars.
Performance Metrics: Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for policy and training effectiveness. Regularly report outcomes and insights to leadership.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with the Office of Ethics & Compliance, Corporate Affairs, Legal, and business units to identify needs and drive awareness.
Thought Leadership: Stay current on ethics developments, industry trends, adult-learning principles, and innovative use of technology and analytics.
Team Leadership: Lead, develop, and inspire a diverse global team. Set clear objectives, manage performance, and foster a culture of accountability and innovation.
Financial Oversight: Oversee budget, resource allocation, and financial planning for the Policies and Training function.
Change Management: Drive change management initiatives to support adoption of new policies, training programs, and regulatory requirements.
Requirements

Minimum Education & Experience
Education: Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) with 16+ years of experience; OR an MS/MA/MBA/Ph.D./JD with 14+ years of experience.
Credentials: Fully qualified legal credentials in one or more geographies of operations is preferred but not required.
Industry Experience: Extensive professional experience in-house in biotech, pharmaceuticals, or other highly regulated industries, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
Management: Demonstrated success leading global teams and initiatives.
Languages: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; proficiency in one or more other languages of the countries in which the company operates is a plus.
Knowledge, Experience and Skills
Relationship Building: Ability to build strong relationships and act as a trusted advisor to relevant stakeholders.
Problem Solving: Approaches challenges with a mindset for developing solutions to problems of unusual complexity requiring ingenuity and innovation.
Data Driven: Experience leveraging data and analytics to inform policy decisions and identify risk trends.
Global Acumen: Deep understanding of global regulatory environments, cultural nuances, and international business practices.
Business Alignment: Ability to provide tailored advice by applying a deep understanding of the biopharma industry and Gilead’s business objectives.
People Leader Accountabilities

Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range: $261,375.00 – $338,250.00
Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. This position may also be eligible for:
Discretionary annual bonus.
Discretionary stock-based long-term incentives.
Paid time off and a comprehensive benefits package (medical, dental, vision, and life insurance).
