Government Affairs Manager
The Government Affairs Manager manages the daily operations of the Government Affairs department. Independently manages numerous projects relating to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta’s government affairs initiatives. Researches, analyzes, and make decisions on various issues. Works closely with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta leaders to promote positive reimbursement and regulatory outcomes. Communicates issues to public policy makers and achieves desired outcomes.
- Bachelor’s degree
- 4 years of experience in a legal, regulatory, and/or healthcare environment
- MPP or MPA
- Previous experience in similar healthcare setting

- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of specific federal and state healthcare laws and regulations
- Demonstrated communication skills, both written and verbal, to ensure message is received and understood by the customer
- Demonstrated computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Demonstrated success in developing effective relationships with multiple individuals
- Demonstrated multi-task capabilities, including organizing, prioritizing, working effectively under pressure, and operating autonomously with minimal supervision and direction

- Develops, manages, and implements strategy for specific legislative issues, including direct lobbying and presentations in legislative hearings and regulatory proceedings.
- Manages various projects involving complex issues with multiple parties throughout the organization and follows up as necessary.
- Identifies public policy issues, both regulatory and legislative, of import to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
- Conducts independent research and analysis of various compliance and regulatory issues.
- Researches, prepares advocacy material, and accesses public policy makers to impact issues of import to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
- Participates in internal or external committee or group, and/or accountable for significant community relationship.
- Oversees internal customers needing assistance from Government Affairs and provides an internal clearinghouse to gather and prioritize matters.
- Effectively develops advocacy strategy to state levels.
- Encourage ongoing skill development by providing opportunities for continued education.
Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.
Compliance: Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
