**Education:**
Relevant degree in Government & Public Affairs, Economics, or Business.
**Experience:**
3+ years of associate level (or higher) experience in advocacy or public policy. Prior work on Capitol Hill is highly desired to understand the culture and environment.
**Knowledge:**
Familiarity with U.S. regulatory and policy issues impacting the energy industry.
**Skills:**
– Excellent oral and written communication skills.
– Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
– Strong project management skills.
– Ability to multitask, set priorities, and maintain accuracy.
– Positive, proactive, and self-motivated attitude.
– Demonstrated interpersonal skills.
**Advantageous:**
– Relevant internships.
– Advanced degrees in related fields.

### Activities
**Key Responsibilities for the Government Affairs Specialist role include:**
– Understanding the direction of US energy policy, climate policy, and foreign policy in specific areas/geographies defined by management that affect TotalEnergies’ business interest.
– Providing analytical reports/memos on US positions/debates on areas of responsibility and ad hoc issues.
– Developing a presence primarily amongst some Washington DC’s industry associations and think tanks in liaison with specific areas under responsibility.
– Assisting the head of office by working on specific tasks or missions assigned.
– Supporting the activities of the TotalEnergies Washington DC office and the Government and Public Affairs team by:
– Conducting research into assigned topics and assigned areas of responsibility.
– Working on any ad hoc issues as may be assigned.
