KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE MANAGER, LEGISLATIVE AFFAIRS

EEI is looking to add a bright, resourceful, and organized Manager, Legislative Affairs, to our External & Government Affairs team. In this role, the individual will be responsible for working with the Government Affairs team to ensure proper coverage and analysis of legislation, hearings, and issues of importance to the electric power industry. Additionally, they will support EEI lobbyists with fly-ins, briefings, and other congressional outreach activities.

Other important responsibilities of the Manager, Legislative Affairs, include:

Support Advocacy Efforts

  • Assist the EEI Government Affairs team with analysis on priority issues and in preparing background materials for use on the Hill.
  • Work with Communications to ensure that the Government Affairs team has the advocacy materials they need for Hill outreach.
  • Work with General Counsel/Policy staff to review and analyze legislation and amendments.

Attend and Report on Congressional Activities

  • Ensure that congressional hearings and briefings relevant to the electric power industry are covered and summarized for the benefit of EEI’s member companies.

Legislation Tracking

  • Track and report on relevant legislation introduced.
  • Ensure that key bills are analyzed and flagged for EEI staff.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in political science, public administration, public policy/legislative affairs, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of government relations experience.
  • Knowledge of the legislative process and ability to identify industry priority issues.
  • Exceptional ability to work effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional writing, listening, and communication skills in order to convey important information to stakeholders.
  • Proficient in time management, prioritizing workload, and multitasking while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook) required.

COMPENSATION

The salary range for this role is $80,000-$125,000. Starting annual salary will be determined based on individual qualifications. EEI also offers an annual performance incentive which is prorated for mid-year start dates. This incentive is typically up to 10% of the base salary.
