Join our Marketing Team as a Marketing and Communications Manager located in our Houston office.

This role will be in-office four days a week and reports to the Chief Communications Officer.

## Position Summary

The Marketing and Communications Manager will create and implement communication strategies that reflect the firm’s brand and positioning, shape and disseminate high-impact messaging, and achieve effective and proactive media coverage in support of key business goals with a focus on supporting the Texas offices and the Restructuring & Special Situations Practice. This candidate must be a strong writer, possess a client service orientation, be able to develop relationships within the firm as well as with the media, meet tight deadlines, possess strong attention to detail and remain calm under pressure.

## Key Responsibilities

– **Communications program development** — Works hand in hand with the Chief Communications Officer, the Texas Marketing and Business Development Manager, the Marketing and Communications team, and office and practice leaders to create a proactive communications program that supports strategic objectives and aligns with global practice goals.
– **Content strategy** — Develops story/content priorities and outreach strategies designed to build thought leadership including media placements, bylined articles, newsletters, alerts, events, multimedia, and other targeted efforts.
– **Content creation** — Creates and repurposes content for external communications on various platforms.
– **Press materials** — Writes press releases, internal communications, and other media collateral as needed.
– **Awards and nominations** — Plans, researches, monitors, writes, and executes awards submissions and nominations, internal and external thought leadership events, and social media contributions.
– **PR channel optimization** — Understands how to identify opportunities on a variety of external PR channels and fully utilize these channels to achieve goals.
– **Media placement** — Consistently seeks out new opportunities to place attorneys/stories in client-facing media.
– **Internal and external communications** — Provides strategic and creative support for communications programs; writes/designs collateral for handouts, the firm’s intranet, presentations, white papers, etc.
– **Marketing plan support** — Coordinates with attorneys and marketing staff to develop office and practice-specific marketing plans; provides research on community relations opportunities and manages the community relations list.
– **Media relations** — Provides media relations support, including pitching, monitoring interviews, and preparing attorneys with talking points.
– **Social media support** — Drafts targeted posts and assists with attorney training.
– **Lateral hire communications** — Focuses on media outreach and press releases for lateral hires throughout Texas.
– **Cross-team collaboration** — Collaborates with marketing and business professionals across functions and teams.
– **Additional duties** — Other responsibilities as needed.

– **AP Style** — Advanced knowledge of AP Style and English grammar rules.

## Education & Prior Experience

– **Bachelor’s degree** — Bachelor’s degree required.
– **PR experience** — 7–10 years of professional experience managing PR for a law firm or professional services industry, or as a business/legal journalist.
– **Media placements** — Track record of successful media placements designed to build thought leadership.
– **Writing portfolio** — Portfolio demonstrating ability to translate complex topics into compelling copy.
– **Media relationships** — Strong understanding of news media and existing media relationships.
– **PR risk management** — Ability to identify PR risk issues and advise leaders.
– **Cision/PR databases** — Adept at utilizing Cision or similar PR databases.
– **Social media expertise** — Experience leveraging social media channels for maximum exposure.

## Technology

– **Microsoft Office** — High proficiency with Windows-based software and Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
– **Social media platforms** — Knowledge and experience across Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube.
– **AI tools** — Proficiency using AI for writing and research tasks.
