APP Media Associate Job Opportunity

APP is seeking a talented and motivated entry-level Media Associate to join our dynamic team. As a Media Associate at APP, you will play a crucial role in identifying, drafting, and creating compelling and persuasive opportunities for PR that result in content aligning with our mission and engaging our audience. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or someone early in their career to gain valuable experience in the nonprofit and political advocacy sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Content Creation: Write clear, concise, and engaging content for various platforms, including websites, blogs, social media, newsletters, press releases, and marketing materials. Draft talking points, video scripts, short speeches, text messages, ad scripts, and other communications material for media appearances and political campaigns.
  • Rapid Response & Social Media Engagement: Provide rapid response replies on X (Twitter) and other social media platforms as needed, crafting timely, relevant content and monitoring conversations to engage effectively with followers and grow our online presence.
  • Research: Conduct research to support content development, ensuring accuracy and relevance for our target audience and assisting in creating impactful, well-informed messaging.
  • Collaborate: Work closely with the communications director to develop and implement content strategies that align with organizational goals. Collaborate on fundraising materials, including drafting and possibly proofreading content.
  • Editing and Proofreading: Edit and proofread content to ensure high-quality, error-free copy that adheres to our style guidelines.
  • Campaign Support: Assist in the development and execution of marketing and advocacy campaigns, providing creative input and support as needed, including drafting content for fundraising material and campaign ads.
  • Analytics: Monitor and analyze content performance, using insights to optimize future efforts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with an eye for detail.
  • Excellent research skills and the ability to translate complex information into clear, accessible content.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and content management systems.
  • Creative thinker with the ability to generate innovative ideas and solutions.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for public policy and a commitment to the principles of the American Principles Project.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with SEO best practices and digital marketing techniques.
  • Previous internship or experience in a nonprofit, political, or advocacy setting.
