National Press Secretary

The DSCC is hiring a National Press Secretary for the 2026 election cycle. The National Press Secretary serves as a primary spokesperson for the DSCC and is integral to the Communications Department’s media relations work to hold Republican Senate incumbents and challengers accountable.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Supporting the communications team to execute on key priorities, including rapid response efforts and long-term goals.
  • Serve as a primary spokesperson for the Committee and primary point of media contact, including responsibility for developing and executing DSCC media relations strategies and tactics.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with national and local reporters.
  • Shape media coverage of Senate races, the DSCC and specific candidates.
  • Assist with managing media opportunities for members of the DSCC leadership team, including the Chair.
  • Work with other departments to find innovative and creative ways to amplify the DSCC’s work and specific candidates.
  • Help manage and oversee other members of the DSCC’s press team.
  • Write and edit communications materials.

Ideal qualifications for the National Press Secretary include but are not limited to:

  • Three to four cycles of campaign or political committee communications department experience. This is not an entry-level position.
  • On-the-record experience.
  • Existing relationships with national reporters and a demonstrated ability to successfully shape media coverage.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Detail-oriented and ready to work in a fast-paced, campaign-style environment.

The salary for this position is $90,000 – $110,000 annually.
