Marine Corps University Foundation (MCUF) seeks a mission-driven and proactive Outreach and Engagement Specialist to lead strategic outreach efforts in support of Marine Corps University (MCU), including MCU alumni engagement.

The successful candidate is a dynamic and relationship-focused professional responsible for developing, implementing, and refining strategies that strengthen connections between the university, its alumni, students, and other partners across the U.S. Marine Corps, Joint Force, multinational partners, industry, and civilian academia. The Outreach and Engagement Specialist ensures all engagement efforts reflect Marine Corps values, support lifelong learning, and build pride and advocacy among MCU graduates and partners.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in stakeholder engagement, event coordination, and communications, and a deep appreciation for the high standards and culture of the United States Marine Corps.

Some evening and weekend work is required for events and outreach activities. The successful candidate must be within daily commuting distance of Quantico, Virginia.

Key Responsibilities
Manage the Marine Corps University social media presence, creating content and engaging with the public daily.

Develop and execute outreach and engagement initiatives that enhance awareness of MCU’s educational programs, research, and strategic impact within the Department of Defense and with interagency partners, industry, and academic institutions.

Collaborate with faculty and staff to promote student, faculty, and institutional achievements through coordinated communication efforts.

Organize and support outreach events, including guest speaker programs, symposia, and networking opportunities.

Plan and execute outreach campaigns across digital, print, and in-person platforms to enhance visibility and engagement.

Maintain and update the alumni database, track engagement metrics, and support the development of targeted outreach campaigns to strengthen alumni connections.

Coordinate and promote alumni events such as reunions, regional gatherings, networking opportunities, and virtual engagement.

Develop content and strategies for alumni communications, including newsletters, social media, and web content aligned with MCU’s professional standards.

Contribute to the development of strategic plans for engagement and advancement.

Desired Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Education, or a related field

3+ years of experience in outreach, alumni relations, event planning, or community engagement

Exemplary communication, interpersonal, and public speaking skills, including professional composure as a representative of a global organization with a high-stakes mission

Strong graphic design and content creation skills

Knowledge of Department of Defense communication standards and policies

Experience with digital engagement tools (e.g., Salesforce, social media platforms)

Background in organizing high-visibility events with military or government leadership
