Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) – Outreach Manager

Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) seeks a passionate and creative Outreach Manager to join our team to help us build key relationships that help expand our organization’s reach and achieve our goals. This position is a unique opportunity to be on the front lines of the fight for a more ethical, equitable, and accountable government while working alongside smart, creative, and kind people.

As a leading nonpartisan nonprofit government watchdog, CREW is dedicated to defending our democratic institutions, rooting out government corruption, and fighting the influence of money in politics through legal action, policy innovation, and communications grounded by in-depth research. CREW is looking for a results-driven team member who is committed to our mission and cares deeply about protecting our democracy. We welcome diverse skills and experiences.

Responsibilities

The Outreach Manager will play a key role in increasing the reach of CREW’s important work and building relationships with organizations across the political spectrum. This person will report to CREW’s Vice President for Democracy Initiatives.

  • Research, identify opportunities, and develop proposals for panels and speaking engagements for CREW staff at conferences, seminars, symposia, and other gatherings.
  • Coordinate staff participation and manage a calendar of conferences, receptions, and other events where CREW can reach new audiences.
  • Work closely with policy, legal, research, and the executive team to identify opportunities for CREW engagement.
  • Attend and serve as a CREW representative at various events and coalition meetings.
  • Research and identify new potential partnerships with state-based organizations that will help extend our visibility into and understanding of key communities and their priorities.
  • Assist in developing collateral materials and briefing documents for events and meetings with organizations and coalitions.
  • Help manage requests from partner organizations and work with the appropriate departments to respond accordingly.
  • Develop and implement a process for tracking, analyzing, and reporting on CREW’s partnerships and event participation, including maintaining and building contact lists.
  • Occasionally assist with CREW-sponsored receptions and fundraising events.

Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of experience working in a political, Capitol Hill, or nonprofit environment focused on building relationships with both national and state-based organizations.
  • Experience developing conference, panel, or project proposals.
  • Existing relationships with issue-advocacy and democracy/open government-related organizations preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.

The position is based in Washington, D.C., but will be hybrid with employees splitting their time between working at home and working in the office. The position may require occasional travel, including on weekends, and attendance at events outside of normal office hours.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $58,000-$65,000 based on experience and qualifications. CREW offers a compensation and benefits program that creates a supportive, respectful, sustainable environment that allows our employees to show up as their authentic selves and perform at their best. We’re in this work for the long-haul, and that means investing in our most important asset: our staff. We are always working to improve our benefits program. Currently, they include:
