The American Urological Association (AUA), the premier urologic association providing support to the urologic community, is currently searching for an experienced PAC and Grassroots Advocacy Manager.
The position is primarily located in our Washington, DC office, with minimal travel to AUA’s headquarters in Linthicum, Maryland. We are required to be in the office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with remote work on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
In General
Under the general direction and supervision of the Vice President of Public Policy & Political Affairs, this position will successfully develop and execute the strategy, operations, and tactics related to AUA’s Political Action Committee (AUAPAC).
This position is also responsible for collaborating with others in the division to increase grassroots engagement of AUA members in legislative (federal and state), regulatory, research, and patient advocacy initiatives.
Additionally, this role shares responsibility for planning and executing the Annual Urology Advocacy (AUA) Summit and serves as the liaison to the Policy and Advocacy Resident Work Group, which reports to the Chair of the AUA Public Policy Council.
Typically, the Individual in This Position Will Be:

Responsible for maintaining all records related to AUAPAC and other advocacy fund contributions using AUA’s technology solution.

This includes tracking and managing individual and group contributions to AUAPAC and other AUA advocacy funds, developing and maintaining donor recognition/champion programs, managing and updating AUAPAC web content, planning and executing AUAPAC events, and collaborating with the Marketing and Communications teams to raise awareness.

Responsible for creative content for all AUAPAC communications, including educational and solicitation materials, annual reports, and newsletters that articulate AUAPAC’s strategies, value, and key messages.

Promoting knowledge of and engagement with AUAPAC across all eight AUA Sections and related specialty societies.

Supporting the planning, coordination, and implementation of the AUA Summit.

Accountable for developing and cultivating AUA’s grassroots advocacy network of member physicians.

Candidates must be collaborative and results-driven, with the ability to execute effectively. The ideal candidate will be an effective decision-maker, able to communicate with physician leaders, and skilled at managing multiple tasks.
Additional Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in political science, social science, or a related field relevant to government or healthcare.

Minimum of four years of government relations or project management experience required.

Strong project management skills are necessary.

Direct Capitol Hill experience is preferred but not required.

Well-organized, detail-oriented, and capable of multitasking while responding effectively to multiple staff members’ requests.

Knowledge of government and regulatory processes, including campaign finance law.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively under tight deadlines to accomplish work goals.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong writing skills with the ability to draft memoranda, correspondence, white papers, and similar materials with minimal supervision.

Familiarity with membership databases and MS Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).

Flexible work hours (ability to work before/after core hours when needed).
