### Job Summary
The Political Director is responsible for developing and implementing political strategies to advance the organization’s objectives. They lead political campaigns, manage relationships with key stakeholders, conduct research, and provide guidance on policy positions. The Political Director plays a crucial role in shaping the organization’s public image and influencing public opinion, as well as guiding the endorsement process of candidates at every level of government.

### Duties & Responsibilities
– Develop comprehensive short-term and long-term political strategies in alignment with organizational goals.
– Coordinate with other departments within the organization to ensure that the political program aligns with the broader strategy.
– Conduct and oversee candidate-related work, including the vetting process for potential candidate endorsements and making recommendations to the Executive Director, President & CEO, and Board of Directors for such endorsements.
– Cultivate and maintain relationships with political stakeholders, including elected officials, government agencies, interest groups, and community leaders.
– Leverage relationships with key allies, including on the Hill, and forge organizational partnerships to broaden our impact and work on candidates.
– Lead Latino Victory’s political and policy campaigns, including organizing events, rallies, and fundraisers, and coordinating with campaign staff, volunteers, and vendors to execute campaign activities effectively.
– Where legally appropriate, assist with the development of electoral strategies for endorsed candidates and voter engagement.
– Oversee comprehensive advanced “Path to Victory” candidate leadership programs, ensuring effective implementation in multiple jurisdictions.
– Serve as a trainer for relevant portions of the “Path to Victory” program and lead the recruitment process for candidates.
– Support fundraising efforts to advance programs; assist in meetings with potential donors, partners, and stakeholders.
– Draft and provide input on statements, talking points and other written communications in coordination with the communications team.
– Represent Latino Victory in key tables, coalitions, and meetings with outside organizations.
– Keep LV Executive Director and President/CEO informed of political affairs, Congressional activity and relevant Latino issues in the news.
– Build and manage relationships with Congress and Washington DC stakeholders.
– Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards as it relates to the organization’s political program.
– Foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
– Perform other duties as assigned.
### Required Skills & Abilities
– Strong understanding of government and the Democratic party.
– Spanish language proficiency.
– Familiarity with political fundraising regulations and compliance requirements.
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages for diverse audiences.
– Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
– Ability to maintain confidentiality of conversations, data records, files, and other vital information.
– Experience in crisis communication and reputation management.
– Proficiency in using communication tools and platforms, including social media management tools, content management systems, and media monitoring software.
– Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
– Knowledge of industry trends and best practices in communication and public relations.
– Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
### Education & Experience
– Bachelor’s degree in political science, Public Administration, Law, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
– Minimum five years of experience in political campaigns, advocacy, or government affairs.
– In-depth knowledge of political processes, public policy issues, and campaign strategies.
### Physical Requirements
– Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
– Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
– Travel as needed.
### Special Requirements
– Due to the nature of our business, you are expected to work extended or unusual hours when required and in case of emergency, including holidays and weekends.
### Location
– Washington, D.C.
### Salary Range
– $90,000 – $120,000
