## Job Summary
The Press Secretary is tasked with serving as a spokesperson for End Citizens United and is responsible for managing media relations and advancing the organization’s messaging on issues related to democracy reform, campaign finance, government corruption, and voting rights. This role involves crafting press materials, handling media inquiries, and shaping public narratives to amplify the organization’s work. They will join a collaborative work environment and help ensure ECU continues being a leading pro-democracy voice nationally.

## Primary Responsibilities
– **Serve as spokesperson** — Handle media inquiries and represent End Citizens United in interviews, press conferences, and public events.
– **Craft messaging** — Develop clear, compelling, and consistent messaging on issues related to campaign finance reform, voting rights protection, and combatting corruption at both the federal and state levels.
– **Proactively pitch stories** — Work with reporters to secure coverage of the organization’s campaigns, events, and key policy issues.
– **Write press materials** — Produce press releases, op-eds, talking points, speeches, and other materials to promote the organization’s initiatives, campaigns, and legislative priorities.
– **Build media relationships** — Maintain relationships with journalists, reporters, bookers, and media outlets to secure coverage and elevate the organization’s presence.
– **Plan media campaigns** — Support major policy initiatives, electoral efforts, and organizational milestones using traditional and digital media.
– **Prepare leadership** — Work closely with leadership to prepare for interviews, speeches, and public events.
– **Collaborate with digital teams** — Amplify press coverage, engage supporters, and create shareable content across platforms.
– **Perform additional duties** as assigned.

## Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have multiple campaign cycles of experience in media relations, communications, and public relations. Multiple cycles of on-the-record experience are required. Strong writing skills and the ability to craft compelling press materials and clear messaging are essential, along with a proven ability to build relationships with reporters and secure media coverage.
A deep understanding of campaign finance reform, voting rights issues, and democracy reform, along with the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, is critical for success. ## Job Location
This is a remote position, with a strong preference for the employee to live in a state in which ECU currently operates. Regular work-related travel is required, including but not limited to bi-monthly in-person All Staff gatherings in Washington, D.C.
