Job Summary

Artemis is seeking a full-time Congressional Communications Support Specialist to support a wide range of outreach efforts as part of a larger strategic communications team. This individual will be responsible for managing all products related to congressional and legislative needs for our clients. For example, the candidate will provide oversight for legislative analyses, briefings, and responses. The Senior Congressional Relations Communications Specialist will also oversee executive communications needs. Therefore, the successful candidate will have demonstrated experience communicating with and developing products for senior leaders as well as a strong attention to detail.

This is a full-time remote position. However, this candidate will be expected to work onsite in Washington, D.C., as needed.

This is a contingent hire position.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversee the tracking, analysis, and compilation of news stories that would be of interest to clients and federal senior executives.
  • Watch, attend, and take detailed notes for congressional briefings, Government Accountability Office (GAO) summits, and Office of the Inspector General (OIG) meetings that involve client senior leadership.
  • Provide comprehensive, accurate, and timely briefing analyses of congressional hearings, GAO summits, and OIG meetings to senior leaders.
  • Assist in drafting responses to Congress and other oversight groups about important EHRM policy issues for senior VHA officials.
  • Conduct legislative analyses of proposed bills and existing laws that may impact our clients’ mission or work.
  • Provide oversight of executive communications (e.g., presentations, briefings, talking points).
  • Ensure appropriate intake and management of new, in-progress, and completed tasks.
  • Provide input for a variety of weekly and monthly progress reports.
  • Serve as a mentor to junior members on the team.
  • Assist with other projects as assigned by senior project management.
  • Translate complex messaging into plain language to ensure materials are easy to read, understand, and use.
  • Ensure content conveys critical information and reflects key messaging in a standardized and consistent tone and voice.
  • Review documents for stylistic and formatting consistency.
  • Ensure all content aligns with client style guides and federal plain language standards.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 7 years of related communications experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience supporting complex projects and transformation efforts within the federal government.
  • Experience creating, executing, and measuring success of strategic communications plans.
  • Comfortability with supporting complex client relationships.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
