Job Description And Responsibilities

Visa is seeking a lawyer to join its growing Global Regulatory Affairs team. The position will report to a Senior Managing Counsel, Global Regulatory Affairs. The position is based in New York. The role includes responsibility for managing and coordinating complex regulatory matters. The attorney will work closely with other experienced lawyers across regions and practice groups to support and advise internal clients, help develop the company’s thought leadership in key regulatory areas, respond to government requests and consultations, and define and execute global strategies to support various functions.

VISA IS LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO WILL:

  • Collaborate closely with Visa’s global and regional legal, business, and government engagement teams in managing highly complex, novel, and time-sensitive regulatory matters.
  • Support global and regional legal, business, and government engagement teams in defining and executing strategy, including developing global positions, drafting regulatory submissions to government agencies, and supporting direct engagements with regulators.
  • Develop global best practices in key areas on an ongoing basis, and ensure global regulatory strategies are applied consistently and effectively across the organization, functions, and regions.
  • Manage multiple priorities, consistently deliver high-quality work product, and meet tight deadlines.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s degree and J.D.
  • Admitted to practice law in the United States and in good standing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong academic credentials.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong preference for prior experience in payments, financial services, and/or technology.
  • Strong preference for either prior experience in government, in-house role, or large global organizations.
  • Must be able to develop strong working relationships with internal clients at all levels of management.
  • Must be able to manage and drive the legal and regulatory strategy to support complex and innovative business initiatives globally.
  • Must be a practical, strategic, and creative problem-solver with excellent judgment and work ethic to drive legal, regulatory, and business solutions forward.
  • Must be a self-motivated individual and able to work independently and collaboratively as needed.
  • Experience working internationally, and fluency or professional proficiency in foreign languages would be a plus.

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is $201,500.00 to $262,000.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
