Job Description: Political Action Committee Manager

Overview

Are you a strategic leader with a knack for political fundraising and support? Do you thrive on steering dynamic Political Action Committees (PACs)? If so, we’re seeking someone like you to take the helm of our vibrant Political Action Committee.

Responsibilities

Political Action Committee Oversight
  • Supervise the AAOS Political Action Committee, managing all political advocacy endeavors.
  • Coordinate volunteer visits to DC and execute in-District fundraising events.
  • Manage daily outreach and fundraising activities, ensuring adherence to disbursement strategies.
  • Collaborate with legislative affairs teams to integrate political activities with AAOS advocacy goals.
  • Oversee PAC budgeting and target spreadsheets.
Program Development and Management
  • Lead the development and execution of PAC goals and programs.
  • Manage budgeting and disbursement strategies set by the PAC Executive Committee.
  • Maintain detailed records of all PAC contributions.
  • Develop and manage PAC administrative procedures, ensuring FEC compliance.
  • Administer the Advisor’s Circle Program and develop new fundraising initiatives.
Staff Management and Leadership
  • Manage the Corporate Political Affairs team, including staffing requirements and training.
  • Provide strategic leadership to advance PAC goals.
  • Collaborate with staff to develop goals, strategies, and professional development plans.
  • Lead and coordinate PAC Executive Committee activities and meetings.
Outreach and Representation
  • Represent AAOS at political events, fundraisers, and candidate interviews.
  • Coordinate in-District fundraising efforts and attend state society meetings.
  • Manage PAC activities and events at AAOS meetings.
  • Develop and manage PAC communications and marketing materials.
Compliance and Regulation
  • Stay updated on FEC and campaign finance regulations.
  • Ensure PAC compliance and timely reporting.
  • Coordinate PAC Treasurer training and lobbying disclosure reporting.
Brand Awareness and Growth
  • Increase awareness of the Orthopaedic PAC through networking and fundraising activities.
  • Participate in physician PAC forums and political workshops.
  • Manage all AAOS political events, promoting events and maximizing impact.

Qualifications

Required
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Six years of government relations experience.
  • Experience running a PAC through at least two election cycles.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Strong networking and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of legislative process and grassroots advocacy.
  • Strong organizational, writing, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Desired
  • Experience in corporate fundraising.
  • Database management skills.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific PAC software.
  • Contacts within the medical PAC community.
