Description

PLUS Communications is a full-service communications firm based in Arlington, Virginia. PLUS Communications leads award-winning campaigns integrating public affairs, corporate communications, digital, advertising, and media buying. PLUS means more!

We are looking for an experienced Public Affairs leader to support the Managing Partners (MP) at PLUS Communications in a centralized, operating capacity managing client, execution, and new business needs.

The SD will help support the Managing Partner (MP) in their role and serve as a liaison between the MP and colleagues, team members, partners, and other key stakeholders. The SD will help determine which opportunities, people, and concerns require direct attention, which can be deferred, and which can be handled by others. Additionally, they will create agendas for team or client meetings and preside over certain meetings at the request of the MP. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on client and project management experience working with a top political and corporate communications professional in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the MP’s scheduler/EA to help determine priorities and prep materials; facilitate internal prep meetings with other team members.
  • Draft memos, proposals, and new business materials, working hand-in-hand with the MP.
  • Serve as a liaison between internal teams and client teams overseen by the MP; fill in as a representative on client calls where appropriate.
  • Attend meetings, identify deliverables, and enforce timelines/deadlines internally and externally for key client accounts.
  • Lead strategic planning processes across client accounts.
  • Support operational functions led by the MP (e.g., working closely with the IT team on operational protocol for cybersecurity).
  • Build long-term, high-trust relationships with internal stakeholders, strategic partners, and vendors.

Requirements

  • 5-8 years of experience as a Chief of Staff, Director of Communications, or equivalent experience in a similar role.
  • Communications and public affairs experience – either on the Hill, in a campaign setting, or in an agency environment.
  • Excellent emotional intelligence and people skills with a passion for developing cohesive team strategy.
  • High level of integrity, judgment, and discretion to manage the full scope of confidential information.
  • Nimble business mind with a focus on developing creative solutions and able to make fast decisions under pressure while understanding the unique concerns and preferences of the organization/client.
  • Proven success completing complex projects with numerous stakeholders on a tight timeline.
  • Experience with budget management.

Benefits

We offer competitive compensation with an opportunity for a year-end bonus. Medical, dental, vision, 401k, and life insurance. We also offer a paid parental leave program, paid vacation, and paid sick leave. In addition, we have a hybrid work environment.

PLUS Communications is an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) employer.
