Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead political efforts on behalf of NCGA—engaging with the states and with NCGA leadership.
- Collaborate with public policy, communications, and membership teams to generate coordinated support for policy initiatives.
- Work as an integral part of the NCGA Public Policy team, including guiding political strategy and grassroots outreach to advance NCGA’s policy goals.
- Provide political updates and information to states/action teams as requested.
- Lobby Congress, the Administration, and various departments and agencies as needed.
- Manage the association’s political action committee board in conjunction with DC Director of Operations. Ensure compliance with all applicable laws.
- Develop, maintain, and implement political giving strategy/PAC contributions in alignment with policy team priorities. Manage relationships with DC fundraising community and other PACs with aligned interests. Create and maintain PAC scorecards to ensure objectivity.
- Develop new and innovative ways to continue to secure financial support for the PAC.
- Develop and implement grassroots strategy to advance the association’s public policy goals.
- Continue to build out association’s grassroots network.
- Coordinate with states and manage plan to further key political relationships with MOCs/candidates—via farm visits, in-states fundraisers, etc.
- Develop grassroots campaigns to advance the association’s policy priorities.
- Develop and implement leadership training opportunities for Action Team members.
- Manage staff responsible for association’s leadership development programs, including: ACE Series (Advocating for Corn Effectively) and NCGA’s Leadership Academy.
- Assist in managing association’s Corn Reputation campaign. Work closely with advertising agency and creative team to ensure messaging remains aligned and relevant.

Requirements
Qualifications and Skills
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and listening skills
- Experience managing a political action committee, familiar with election law and processes at the federal level
- Existing bipartisan relationships or the ability to build a network at all levels of the political sphere including Members of Congress, Congressional staff, and political staff
- Excellent writing and oral presentation skills
- Ability to work in a team setting
- Ability to work with constantly changing priorities and under challenging timelines
- Ability to work independently and make educated decisions
- Organized, detail-oriented, and good at time management
- General understanding of the agriculture industry
Education/Experience
- College degree or equivalent
- At least ten years of experience on Capitol Hill, Federal or State government, or equivalent
- Willingness to travel
- Compensation based on experience
Travel
- Requires travel (20%). Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
