Senior Manager, Internal Communications
As a Senior-level communication professional you will be partnering with senior level executives to skillfully develop the communication strategy and plans that will contribute to the business goals, drive value and link to the corporate vision. Seen as a trusted communications advisor. This role will support the businesses and functions in our Merchandising pillar, as well as our key initiatives within Corporate Social Responsibility and Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging.
Communications Professional – has excellent multi-faceted communication skills that drive action and get results. Strong interpersonal, verbal, writing, listening and presentation skills.
Drives Vision – ability to interpret business goals/vision and translate into a compelling communication strategy that is grounded in a deep understanding of our business, people and culture.
Thought Leadership – seen as the communications expert, provides an informed opinion and is seen as a trusted advisor. Can inspire others with innovative actionable approaches and knows how to replicate success.
Consult Leaders – can influence the most senior levels of leadership and has the courage to provide direct and actionable communications counseling to executives.
Strong Storyteller – has excellent writing skills and the ability to capture an executive’s voice. Has experience in speechwriting and developing executive messaging platforms.
Manages Complexity – can understand complex ideas or problems, works to identify the root cause and can synthesize and formulate an understandable and executable communications solution.
Operates at Multiple Levels – can operate at a strategic big picture level and has the curiosity to understand, coach and manage the fine details.
Develops and manages direct reports and expects excellence – understands team’s individual skills, contributions and areas of development. Provides direct feedback, coaching and motivation to engage and retain talent.
Change Leadership – can navigate, lead and drive cross-functional change and business transformations.
You own this if you have..
10+ years of experience in the areas of corporate communications, public relations and/or marketing and at least 5 of those years being in a leadership role.
Experience in corporate level communications and working directly with Executive leadership required.
Proven ability to earn trust, respect and credibility from direct reports, peers and leadership; influencing and driving change.
Deep understanding or the ability to quickly develop deep understanding of the Nordstrom culture and brand.
Engaging and clear presentation skills.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a highly cross functional environment to ensure project outcomes align with priorities and direction.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, project and change management skills.
Clear and effective written and verbal communication, and strong interpersonal skills. Ability to develop rapport and credibility with peers and senior leadership.
Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, communications, journalism or other related area; or equivalent work experience required.
