Position Overview

The Senior Manager of Citizen Engagement at the Congressional Management Foundation (CMF) plays a pivotal role in enhancing CMF’s relationships with partners, stakeholders, and supporters, while also spearheading initiatives to engage citizens in the democratic process. Reporting directly to the President/CEO, this multifaceted role involves partnership development, overseeing citizen engagement activities, project management, and strategic communications.

Responsibilities

Partnership Development

  • Develop and implement the business plan for the citizen engagement membership programs.
  • Grow and maintain partnerships with advocacy associations and organizations through our membership and advocacy training programs.
  • Oversee citizen engagement research initiatives, coordinating with internal staff and consultants.
  • Develop educational products and content for subscribers, including the online training platform, presentations, webinars, and reports on advocacy and citizen engagement.
  • Coordinate speakers for citizen-advocate presentations and ensure high-quality delivery.
  • Deliver presentations to citizen advocacy audiences through various channels, including in-person trainings, advocacy bootcamps, and webinars.

Communications

  • Develop and support communications plans to effectively engage with partners, stakeholders, and citizen engagement supporters.
  • Craft compelling communications tailored to various stakeholders, including congressional staff, donors, and advocacy groups.
  • Track stakeholder activities and services in the CRM database (Salesforce).
  • Produce reports on organizational activity.

Reporting Structure

This position will supervise two employees and reports directly to the President/CEO of CMF.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent writing/editing skills.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience, preferably in a nonprofit or association setting.
  • Experience managing a team (preferred).
  • Proficiency in managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
  • Previous experience with online CRM databases (Salesforce) and project management software (Asana) preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a small, dedicated team.
  • Highly developed communication, analytical, and presentation skills.
