Responsibilities
Communications:
- Manage and develop NNCC’s overall branding and communications strategy, social media, and policy communications.
- Supervise NNCC’s Communications Manager and collaborate in executing NNCC conferences and all external communications projects and events.
- Develop content and inform design for the NNCC website.
- Train NNCC staff on communications best practices and NNCC branding.
- Support NNCC staff in speaking with and writing to media and policymakers.
- Provide regular external and internal updates about relevant policy issues and public health programming to NNCC staff and stakeholders via newsletters, blog posts, social media, trainings, and presentations.
- Design and write graphics, flyers, and other materials that promote NNCC trainings and events.
- Coordinate with external vendors and PHMC communications on special projects.
- Write and edit content for NNCC’s Policy Blog and News Feed.
- Create social media content related to policy and advocacy initiatives.
- Write and edit external communications as needed.
Strategy and Development:
- Work with NNCC senior leadership to develop and execute communications strategies and report on communications metrics.
- Collaborate with NNCC leadership to create long-term communications and policy goals for the organization.
- Stay updated on local, state, and national events relevant to NNCC’s policy agenda.
- Provide writing and editing support to staff as needed.
- Assist with grant writing and editing, focusing particularly on federal contract and grant proposals.
Skills
- 5+ years of experience in nonprofit or public health communications, social media, project management, and development required. Grant writing and advocacy experience preferred.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to express ideas concisely and clearly.
- Social media expertise (Twitter/X, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram).
- Program management experience with demonstrated initiative in creating and maintaining projects.
- Proficiency in the following or similar platforms: Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, SproutSocial, Loomly, Mailchimp, Joomla, Canva, SmartSheet.
- Confidence to communicate effectively with internal and external partners, executive directors, executive staff of other collaborating national organizations, and federal officials related to the program.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects and work collaboratively with a team, including internal staff and external partners.
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize work projects, meet tight deadlines, juggle multiple tasks, manage time effectively, and communicate clearly with colleagues.
- Graphic design experience preferred.
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 5+ years of relevant experience required.
Education Requirement
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Master of Communications, Marketing, Public Policy, Public Health, or equivalent required.
