### Salary Range

$110,000.00 To $120,000.00 Annually

Way to Win is looking to hire a political strategist to join the political team and assist in the development and execution of political plans and programs for Way to Win as well as serve as the PAC manager for Way to Lead. This position, in close collaboration with the Senior Strategic Advisor, provides political analysis, data fluency, and strategic guidance for Way to Win’s theory of change and programs’ goals and assists in developing political strategy. This role will also assist in managing the work of Way to Lead and will work with senior management as well as with the PAC Advisory Committee made up of movement leaders to help execute the PAC’s political plans. The role will also have opportunities to collaborate across Way to Win departments, including donor advising and communications. The position requires excellent project management, communication, and coordination skills. The position can be located anywhere.

### Responsibilities

#### Strategic Support

– Assist in delivery of ongoing political and programmatic analysis to inform target races, including monitoring and analyzing public and private polling, fundraising, and candidate and IE spending.
– Support data projects and experiments with organizational partners and provide regular reports and updates as needed.
– Serve as a resource for data projects and analysis for the political and advising team.
– Recommend and support political research that will aid in the landscape insight-gathering and strategic process, and for post-cycle analysis and positioning.
– Provide political information to the communications staff to produce strategic memoranda, decks, and other written and verbal materials to advance Way to Win’s mission and strategy.
– Assist in leading cycle opportunity programs outside of Way to Win’s core long-term states in collaboration with the political team.
– Preserve and enhance Way to Win’s critically important relationships with grantees.

#### Support Donor Advising and Fundraising

– Collaborate with Donor Advisors to craft effective pitches to donors.
– Be responsive to rapid response requests from the Donor Advising team.
– Regularly write, review, and contribute to strategic documents that serve as fundraising content and updates to engage donors and mobilize resources in support of our state strategies and in-cycle priorities.
– Pro-actively source stories that highlight the significance of our partners’ work and demonstrate opportunities for greater investment and highlight them for the Donor Advisors.

#### Analysis, Documentation and Writing

– Stay current on the political landscape, key voter trends, and advancements in political strategy.
– Help create, analyze and interpret political data to develop written documents and presentations.
– Write political materials, including periodic political memos, updates or more formal investment recommendations.
– Keep all documents up to date.
– Meet consistent writing deadlines so that team members know when they can expect fresh materials to leverage with donors and key allies.

#### Way to Lead PAC

– With other PAC team members, help drive Way to Lead PAC’s overall strategy and budgetary goals for direct candidate and IE spending. Work with the Way to Win Advising Team to develop and execute a fundraising strategy for the PAC.
– Assist in the solicitation, identification, and vetting of candidates for potential endorsement.
– Manage the day-to-day administration for Way to Lead including executing on approved budgets and assisting with compliance duties.
– Help communicate to the Way to Win community about the mission and vision of Way to Lead by assisting in the production of decks, memoranda, and other documentation. This includes working with other departments to update the website, social media and developing and tracking the communications calendar.
– Work with Senior Strategy Advisor to develop a public narrative for Way to Lead, and the role it plays in the political landscape.
– Work with Way to Win’s team to produce events to introduce our strategy and candidates to major donors including “brown bag lunches,” virtual candidate meet and greets, and in-person gatherings.
– Work with senior leaders to create and manage a small dollar, digital fundraising strategy for the PAC.
– Represent Way to Lead among donors and in political circles as assigned including representing Way to Lead on some IE tables and donor collaboratives.
– Communicate in a timely, proactive, and responsive way with other team members to ensure broad visibility and collaboration.

### Requirements

– The successful candidate will be a progressive operative with at least 5-7 years of experience in electoral campaigns, political advocacy, and/or progressive movement-building and experience with political data.
– Political alignment: a commitment to racial, gender, and economic justice, and to building a progressive multi-racial political coalition.
– Oversees and structures complex projects, plans backwards, and ensures quality end-products are delivered on or ahead of schedule, without crises.
– Campaign Experience: Experience with candidates and campaigns, an understanding of election cycles, and the role of PACs.
– Board or other form of stakeholder or coalition management & engagement.
– Understanding of and experience with political data, data analysis, and data reporting/management tools.
– Successfully managed teams and/or projects that rely on message testing, modeling, or analytics products.
– Familiarity with large-scale political plans and a basic understanding of various tax and legal statuses and their potential for long-term power building, with appetite to learn.
– Communicates well with others, including sharing context and asking questions to understand others’ perspectives.
– Event coordination: experience assisting in the production of virtual or in-person events under 50 people.
– Experience managing organizational/campaign priorities, vision, budget, and cash flow is a plus.

#### Salary Range

$110,000 – $120,000
