# OVERVIEW
The **VoteRiders Southern Regional Manager (SRM)** leads VoteRiders’ programming across the Southern region and grows the organization’s impact there. This individual works closely with VoteRiders’ National Field Director, Department Directors and Deputy Directors, the Chief Operating Officer, and the Chief Executive/Executive Director to plan, manage, and execute voter ID–focused field programs across the South.
The Southern Regional Manager will lead overall regional programming and partnership work, serving as the primary contact for state-based partners in **Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana**, and will oversee the work in **Georgia and Florida**.
VoteRiders does not maintain a physical office, but candidates must be physically based in or willing to relocate immediately to the Southern region and be able to travel regularly within the specified states. While candidates from AL, FL, GA, LA, and MS will be considered, there is a preference for candidates based in or willing to relocate to **Alabama, Louisiana, or Mississippi**, where VoteRiders does not currently have field presence.
The Southern Regional Manager reports to the National Field Director and directly supervises the **Georgia State Director** and **Florida State Director**. This position sometimes requires irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.
This grant-funded position is funded through **July 2027**, with the possibility of extension.

# PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
## Partner Outreach and Relationship Management
**Strategic Planning:** Develop and implement state-specific strategic plans for Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana for partner outreach and engagement, supporting a broad and diverse range of partners to incorporate and sustain voter ID education, assistance, and advocacy.
**Partnership Development:** Identify, establish, maintain, and deepen partnerships with regional, statewide, and local organizations. Support voter ID outreach and assistance to at-risk communities using VoteRiders’ resources, tools, and services.
**Cross-Program Leverage:** Use relationships with AL, MS, LA, and regional partners to support partnership development in other states or nationally.

## Voter and Community Engagement
**Community Events:** Participate in virtual and in-person community events to engage voters and at-risk communities, offering voter ID education and assistance.
**Event Collaboration:** Coordinate with the Voter Outreach & Data Manager to co-host volunteer events with key partners, maintaining a presence throughout events to provide expertise and technical support.
**Media:** Coordinate with Communications and Digital teams for website updates and earned media opportunities. Follow brand and messaging guidelines and route all media inquiries through the Communications Director or designee.

## Policy Monitoring and Engagement
**Legislative Monitoring:** In coalition with partners and the VoteRiders Legal team, monitor state-level legislative developments related to voting rights and voter ID laws.

## Reporting, Staff, and Program Management
**Data and Tracking:** Lead and maintain resource development and reporting efforts for AL, MS, and LA field programs, including weekly and monthly reports, metrics collection, partner tracking, website updates, and other internal/external updates.
**Staff Supervision:** Supervise and mentor the Georgia and Florida State Directors; track goals quarterly; provide feedback; review weekly reports; and ensure accountability for metrics, voter stories, event attendance, and data entry. Enforce organizational policies and ensure staff are informed of programmatic changes.
**Development Support:** Collaborate with the development department on region- and state-specific grant proposals and reporting.
**Goal Setting:** Develop, track, and report on goals/metrics for AL, MS, and LA relevant to field programs and regional work.
**External Representation:** Represent VoteRiders externally with partners, media, and stakeholders.
**Cross-Functional Collaboration:** Work with other VoteRiders teams to ensure aligned and successful outcomes.
**Budget Management:** Track and monitor AL, LA, and MS expenses against the approved budget. Flag variances and request modifications as needed.

# QUALIFICATIONS
## Required
– Must live in or be willing to relocate immediately to AL, FL, GA, MS, or LA (no relocation funds provided).
– Must be willing to travel regularly within the Southern states, with reliable transportation. Candidates in FL or GA should expect **up to 40% travel**.
– At least **6 years of relevant professional experience**, including community organizing in democracy, voting rights, or political spaces, with extensive coalition-building; at least **3 years remote**.
– At least **3 years of managerial and project management experience** in remote environments.
– Existing relationships with organizations in democracy, voting rights, civil rights, direct service, and/or community-based organizations in AL, MS, or LA.
– Proven track record of recruiting, building, and maintaining collaborative relationships with external stakeholders.
– Demonstrated experience managing campaigns, working groups, coalitions, and short- or long-term projects.
– Ability to manage complex details, solve problems, and follow through under tight deadlines.
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and presentations.
– Experience working with diverse, marginalized, and at-risk communities.
– Strong data tracking, analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
– Ability to work effectively with people with differing views; maintain transparency about personal beliefs while supporting the organization’s nonpartisan mission.
– Reliable computer, internet, and cellphone; strong skills in Slack, Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, and ability to learn new systems.
– Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required.

– Spanish or additional relevant language skills
– Experience with VAN, Mobilize, EveryAction, or similar platforms
– Experience with digital storytelling
– Experience drafting data-driven program reports
