## Description
The Senior Director of Media and Stakeholder Engagement supports the SVP of Membership, Communications, and Industry Relations in developing and executing integrated communication strategies that advance the organization’s mission, strengthen member engagement, and elevate the organization’s reputation. This role oversees day‑to‑day communications operations, manages content development across platforms, and ensures consistent, high‑quality messaging internally and externally. The Senior Director supervises communication consultants and works collaboratively across departments to support strategic initiatives and organizational priorities.

### Key Responsibilities (Role‑Specific)
– **Support multi‑channel strategy** by assisting the SVP of Membership in developing, refining, and implementing communications aligned with organizational goals.
– **Translate strategic priorities** into actionable communication plans, timelines, and deliverables for staff and consultants.
– **Conduct environmental scanning** and proactively identify communication opportunities that advance organizational initiatives.
– **Serve as secondary spokesperson** providing backup for the SVP of Membership and Executive Office.
– **Manage media inquiries** and coordinate press engagement with timely, accurate responses.
– **Build media relationships** with journalists and trade press to increase visibility and understanding of the organization’s work.
– **Draft press materials** including statements, talking points, and media briefings; prepare leaders for interviews and public appearances.
– **Oversee content development** across newsletters, reports, email communications, and website updates.
– **Manage consultants** ensuring quality control, message alignment, and adherence to timelines.
– **Ensure editorial accuracy**, brand consistency, and professional presentation across all materials.
– **Support legislative communications** for priorities, events, and industry initiatives.
– **Draft policy communications** including updates, statements, and issue briefs.
– **Develop internal communications** to keep staff informed of initiatives, priorities, and updates.
– **Collaborate across departments** to gather content and ensure consistent messaging.
– **Oversee digital content** including website updates, email marketing, and social media scheduling.
– **Ensure digital alignment** with organizational priorities and stakeholder engagement goals.
– **Coordinate analytics tracking** and provide performance insights to inform strategy adjustments.
– **Support crisis communication protocols** including development and maintenance.
– **Draft crisis materials** such as holding statements, FAQs, and internal guidance in coordination with leadership.
## Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
– **Communication plan development** experience.
– **Strong media relations** with an established network in agriculture or trade press.
– **Exceptional communication skills** with the ability to articulate complex issues clearly and persuasively.
– **Strategic communications expertise** including campaigns and messaging.
– **Crisis communications experience** and ability to navigate sensitive issues.
– **Leadership and team development** experience.
– **Digital communications knowledge** across platforms and tools.

## Education & Experience
– **University degree** — BS/BA required.
– **Minimum 10 years experience** in communications or public relations, including 1–3 years in a leadership role.
– **Industry experience preferred** in agriculture, food, or related sectors.
