Represent Vistra policy and political agendas before the U.S. Congress as part of the federal team, and as part of the lobby organizations of the company’s industry groups and trade associations in order to promote and protect the company’s business agenda and ensure positive legislative outcome. Work with company management on policy development and communication plans. Build congressional staff relationships on relevant committees such as energy, environmental, tax, finance.Job Description
•Responsible for collaborating on the development of company federal policy positions on key priority issues on energy reforms, environmental, tax and finance, and emerging electric industry transformational opportunities. •Monitor priority committees and work with Government Affairs Public Policy to communicate key issues internally.•Work directly with Federal lobbyists to advocate company positions.•Assist in development of strong relationships with federal elected officials and their staff, educate them on company’s business priorities and issues.•Serve as staff liaison to certain trade associations •Assist in development of strong relationships with allied companies in Washington DC working with their governmental affairs to activate and coordinate their involvement in industry issues•Position the company as a credible and leading source of information with policy makers and staff on issues affecting the electric energy generation and retail business.•Support PAC activities: communications, recruitment, giving strategies and some administrative activities.
Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements
•3-5 years of direct experience in governmental affairs arena and/or Capitol Hill experience.•Knowledge of energy power markets and electric industry issues.•Strong knowledge of federal legislative process.•Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, public speaking and presentation skills coupled with confidence in interacting directly with corporate leadership and policymakers.•Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point. Ability to handle own administrative processes. •Experienced gained through college degree programs and or certifications is applicable to above skills
