Strategic Communications Specialist
Koniag Technology Solutions (KTS) is looking for an exceptionally skilled Strategic Communications Specialist for DoD Enterprise Cloud support to support KTS and our government customer in Arlington, VA.

In this role you will support the Government Strategic Communications Lead and other team members for the digital cloud workplace across the DoD. Developing compelling content, outreach materials and strategic platforms is necessary to drive the culture shift and technology adoption for this changing landscape. This role is responsible for continuously optimizing employee-related strategic communications digital experiences to support business and Warfighter Mission needs.
You will lead material development for efforts to deliver and enhance products and capabilities as part of the Strategic Communications Team and contribute to the evolving messaging and social collaboration platforms. You will incorporate content and strategies into strategic communications materials for briefing senior DoD leadership and drive rapid adoption of the JEDI Cloud.
Provide strategic communications support for the CCPO
Formulate branding and messaging plans and products for the CCPO with an emphasis on accuracy, timeliness, and concisely conveying information with the intended audience in mind
Develop templates, samples, and public relations materials consistent with the approved CCPO brand. Ensure plans and products have approved and consistent messaging for internal and external audiences
Update branding and messaging plans and products with approved messaging for internal and external audiences
Develop clear and concise talking points for CCPO leaders to brief at internal and external events
Facilitate engagements, events, and working groups with both internal and external audiences. This may include organizations across the DoD and other Federal agencies, Congress, the White House, and the media.
Provide recommended draft responses to media inquiries, media interviews, and articles for public media with compelling and clear messaging that is appropriate for the targeted audience. This will require working with DoD public affairs staff and coordination with senior leadership.
Prepare documentation for meetings with, and responses to inquiries from, organizations across DoD, other Federal agencies, Congress, White House, and the media
Create and disseminate to CCPO personnel a compilation of relevant media articles and conferences/events for situational awareness
Create a historical archive of all internal and external messaging to ensure consistency in CCPO messaging
Create communications materials for internal (DoD) and external outreach to include briefings, multimedia, fact sheets, brochures, and other materials as needed
Facilitate review of any public affairs and communications documentation, organize and adjudicate feedback, and make updates to documentation as approved by the CCPO
Ensure the CCPO website content is consistent with branding products and overall messaging
Review all CCPO documentation for consistency and clarity. Perform technical writing/editing, editorial consultation, proofreading, and overall documentation review. Ensure documents are prepared in the appropriate format and are free from grammatical errors
Facilitate focus groups of end users in coordination with User Engagement to assess the quality of services and identify methods of improvement
Provide briefings to the government as well as other key stakeholders
Education, Experience & Skills:
7+ years related experience
Bachelor’s Degree required in a relevant field. Master’s Degree in a relevant field preferred
Powerful analytical and problem-solving skills – including the ability to develop solutions in new and creative ways
Ability to combine knowledge and expertise from diverse areas in new/unique ways to solve problems
Ability to speak with confidence and energy in public, in person, and over the phone
Proficient with Excel, Word, and Google Docs
Good organization skills
Ability to work both independently (with direction) and with a team
Maintain a thorough knowledge of JEDI Cloud and DoD Cloud Policies
Strong ability to lead disparate teams from different groups form consensus
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Strong ability to brief senior executives with little notice
Comfortable in a fast paced/dynamic environment
Ability to function in an action officer type role when needed
Must be a US Citizen, hold a current DoD Secret Clearance, and have the ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret Clearance. Top Secret SCI preferred.
Working Environment & Conditions
This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The work load may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, do simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress. The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
