Strategic Communications Specialist

Design, develop, and implement a program communication strategy as part of the Booz Allen Team that supports the Joint Staff in developing the future Joint Force. Work with stakeholders to assess communication needs, determine key messages and themes, tactics, and channels to engage stakeholders, and develop tailored communications for specific audiences. Solve the problem of how to deliver key information across multiple combatant command and coalition clients. Work effectively in a fast-paced and collaborative environment as a key contributor on high-profile client deliverables and interact with high-level senior government leaders. Apply specific functional, working, and general industry knowledge. Develop or contribute to solutions for a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity. Work independently with some guidance and review or guide activities of more junior employees.

Basic Qualifications:

-8+ years of experience with strategic communications, including advising senior leaders in communication planning or implementation

-8+ years of experience with management consulting, including communications initiatives in a DoD or US government environment and communicate with senior leaders

-Ability to interpret the intent of a client’s needs effectively and help to shape and form the solution by leveraging team capabilities and ensuring expectations are communicated and satisfied

-Secret clearance

-BA or BS degree

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with strategic communications to define communications objectives and align and coordinate communication efforts toward goals and objectives

-Experience with Combatant Command, Joint, or Service headquarters staff preferred

-Experience with collaborating across teams, functions, and geographical regions and engaging team members at all levels

-Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project

-Ability to interact with senior government leadership and program managers

-Ability to respond accurately and quickly to internal and external staff taskings

-Ability to conceive, draft, proofread, and edit materials quickly, including comprehending and communicating complex technical or sensitive subjects in a clear, concise, and engaging manner

-Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines successfully while providing creative solutions supporting the overall communications strategy

-Ability to be a highly flexible self-starter capable of operating in a high-tempo environment under less than ideal time-management conditions
