## Position Summary
The Vice President of Government Affairs serves as the company’s senior representative and strategic advisor on all government relations matters, with a focus on defense, maritime, and national security policy. This executive will build and maintain trusted relationships with senior officials across the U.S. Government — including the Department of Defense, Navy, Congress, and the White House — to advance corporate priorities and strengthen the company’s role in supporting the nation’s defense and industrial base.
This position requires a leader with deep understanding of government operations, policy formulation, and legislative processes, as well as experience navigating classified and sensitive matters.
Traveling, domestic and international, may be required.
## Essential Skills and Functions
– **Government relations strategy** — Lead and execute federal relations initiatives that advance FMG’s defense and maritime priorities.
– **Stakeholder & policy engagement** — Represent the company with key government leaders and agencies while monitoring and influencing policy and legislation.
– **Executive advising & compliance** — Counsel leadership on political and regulatory matters and ensure all activities meet ethics, lobbying, and security standards.
– **Microsoft Office proficiency** — Must have strong Microsoft Office Suite computer skills.
– **Organizational & communication skills** — Must have strong organizational, time management, written, and verbal communication skills.
– **Confidentiality & professionalism** — Must have ability to maintain confidentiality and a professional demeanor.
– **ISO & OSHA compliance** — All employees are required to adhere to ISO and OSHA policies established by FMG and shall have high values for safety awareness.
– **Supervisory responsibilities** — Includes interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, resolving problems, and developing employees to achieve company goals.

## Physical Demands and Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and occasionally stand or walk; use hands to handle materials or equipment; reach with hands and arms; stoop and kneel; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
The employee’s workspace is in a clean and comfortable climate-controlled setting with little to no exposure to moving equipment, elements, extreme conditions, or risk of injury. Noise levels are usually quiet. When entering the shipyard, areas may not be climate-controlled and there is exposure to moving equipment and other industrial conditions.

## Requirements
### Education and Experience
– **Bachelor’s Degree**, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
– **16 years** of government affairs, production, or legislative roles within Capitol Hill or related sectors required
– **Security Clearance:** Active or eligible for **Top Secret / SCI** clearance required
### Pay Range
**$195,000 – $255,000**
This range represents the overall market pay rate for candidates who meet the necessary qualifications and experience requirements for this role. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as experience, education, and performance.
