Job Overview

The Vice President, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer (CMCO) is accountable for defining vision and strategy, as well as achieving goals for the marketing, public relations, and communications functions. The CMCO will drive brand awareness, customer acquisition, and revenue growth through effective marketing initiatives, market research, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. The CMCO will oversee the delivery and coordination of internal and external communications and the development and implementation of sophisticated and complex marketing programs, public relations initiatives, and audience engagement strategies. This individual will lead four disciplines within the marketing and communications division: Brand Strategy and Creative Services, Digital Experience and Strategy, Media Relations, and Internal Communications.

Minimum Salary: $254,000

 

The salary for the position varies based on the candidate’s qualifications. As a Children’s Hospital Colorado team member, you will receive a competitive pay and benefits package designed to take care of your needs that includes base pay, incentives, paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, company provided life and disability insurance, paid parental leave, 403b employer match (retirement savings), a robust wellness program, and access to professional development tools, including a best-in-class education benefit to help you advance your career.

As part of our Total Rewards package, Children’s Colorado offers an annual employee bonus program that rewards eligible team members based on organizational performance. If organizational goals are met for the year, the bonus is paid out the following April.

Children’s Colorado delivers annual base pay increases to eligible team members based on their performance over the previous year.

Qualifications

EDUCATION – Master’s Degree

EXPERIENCE – Six years of leadership experience in marketing and communications.

EQUIVALENCY – Bachelor’s degree plus two additional years of leadership experience will substitute for a Master’s degree

Responsibilities

  • Develops vision for marketing, public relations, and communications, ensuring alignment with organizational vision and strategy. Leads the development of a strategic plan, annual goals, and performance metrics for marketing and communications.
  • Defines marketing, public relations, and communications strategies to support the organization’s overall strategies and objectives. Perceives trends in the market and directs market research efforts for the organization. Collaborates across the organization to guide a unified approach to customer engagement, user experience, comprehensive plans to meet market demands.
  • Leads the development and implementation of marketing and communications plans. Leads the design of comprehensive promotional campaigns and public relations programs across paid, earned, owned, and shared media.
  • Protects brand equity by defining and ensuring adherence to rigorous and consistent brand application and usage, driving imperative adherence to established brand guidelines across the organization.
  • Participates in leadership activities for the organization, contributing to the achievement of goals and objectives; evaluates operational performance. Creates organizational design for marketing, public relations, and communications; serves as a champion of organizational culture, influencing culture change to support organizational objectives. Develops, implements, and maintains marketing, public relations, and communications services to meet organizational needs. Handles operational and customer service escalations.
  • Partner with executive leaders throughout the organization to develop effective and responsive communications plans across multiple topics, situations, and industry trends.
  • Maintains effective working relationships with executives across the organization to drive performance towards the organization’s strategic plan; builds and maintains relationships with external stakeholders and community groups to support both operational and organizational strategic initiatives.
  • Build and nurture a highly efficient and talented team of marketing, public relations, and communications professionals, who deliver best in class work. Assigns and reviews annual goals and strategic goals, provides work instruction and develops leaders. Evaluates performance of leaders, providing continuous feedback. Manages discipline and performance issues; hires and fires leaders. Reviews and approved resource plans for function(s) within operation.
  • Carries overall financial management responsibility for the marketing, public relations, and communications function, reviewing and approving recommendations made by leaders.
  • Develops and implements broad operational policies; serves as executive sponsor on major projects for functional areas. Provides advice and guidance to senior leadership on the operational impact of strategic initiatives.
  • Ensures compliance against federal, state, and local regulations for operation.
