Job Summary
The VP Government Affairs and Chief of Staff is responsible for the government relations activities on behalf of Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital with a focus on issues involving pediatric advocacy, research, treatment, education healthcare, higher education, corporate relations, and private business development in the state of Florida and southeastern United States. This highly visible executive will interact with government and city officials, business leaders including CEOs, business and trade associations, policy makers on legislative, regulatory, business, and other matters. The position will also provide direction to the Board of Trustees and other corporate officials and officers with respect to government and corporate affairs. The incumbent will work closely with the executive and operational leadership teams to develop and implement strategies and manage key initiatives, policies, and projects for the organization. Responsible for directing, managing, coordinating, and liaising across the organization on government affairs issues and other initiatives which cross departmental lines, have external implications, or are of operational and strategic importance to the health system and president.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree and/or Advanced degree in healthcare, law, policy, or related field preferred.
- 10+ years related experience with 10+ years in leadership role for a business unit or support organization.
- Government Affairs (direct or indirect) experience required including knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, OSHA, CMS, and state guidelines.
- Experience with process redesign (Six Sigma, Lean, etc.) preferred.
- Administrative senior leadership role with experience in healthcare operations and a track record of working with and understanding large, complex organizations.
