Our Sr. Country Officer (SCO) Role

Program & Agreement Management Support:

  • Ensure project and program management support, including work planning/continuation applications, budget planning, and monitoring.
  • Coordinate with the PMO for award maintenance in liaison with Awards Management and the Project Management Office.
  • Coordinate the global support team for country-level support prioritization and follow-up.
  • Support the development, review, and submission of plans and related reports to donors.
  • Document best practices and innovations in-country and facilitate south-to-south learning.
  • Ensure effective process and high-quality continuing applications specific to the country program.
  • Identify and coordinate global support technical assistance for program design, work plan development, reporting, monitoring and evaluation, and operations research.

Country Representation, Coordination, and Collaboration:

  • Provide coordination of operational, technical, and programmatic technical assistance and support to country programs.
  • Serve as an informational source for stakeholders, responding to internal and external requests.
  • Foster teamwork between country programs and global support.
  • Participate in and/or lead department meetings, brown bags, and presentations.
  • Represent PICM in cross-organizational, cross-functional initiatives.

Strategic Positioning and Business Development:

  • Contribute to the strategic direction by facilitating development and implementation of country strategic operating frameworks.
  • Actively participate in program planning and coordination.
  • Support the Country Director (CD) in updating and using the country strategic plan.
  • Facilitate documentation and marketing needs by identifying best practices and innovations.
  • Participate in new business development initiatives, including preparation, strategic planning, and writing.

To be successful, you will have:

  • BA/BS in Public Health or a related field.
  • 8 years of experience in public health, and/or digital health or a related field.
  • Experience with USG awards (USAID, CDC, HHS, or NIH).
  • Demonstrated leadership in team building, customer service, and decisiveness.
  • Willingness to take at least two (2) international field visits per year.

Bonus points if you have:

  • Digital Health or Health Information Systems.
  • USAID contract implementation and management experience.
  • Proficiency in Portuguese, French, and/or Swahili.
